The US is a circus 8u
A very shitty circus that you can't leave and can't get a refund for u8

I was born and raised in Texas and I really don't think I could live somewhere else for long.
I'm so used to the shitty weather here that I'd likely wither in places with decent weather xD
I can withstand up to 110°F (43°C), but I can't tolerate the cold too well.
Texas also seems to be unlike other places in different ways and I'm used to living that way xD;

But I have family in Germany that I've never met and I probably have some in Ireland...
I always wanted to travel around Europe and Japan because I grew up reading legends and folklore from the countries and I always wanted to travel around.

My aunt was a flight attendant and she got to travel all over the place.
She showed us pictures of Italy and it was so beautiful there.
I have never left my country, so I will easily fall in love with scenery from other countries.
I remember Firn showing a picture of her parking lot and I was like "It's so beautiful uB!!"

A world of fragile things
Look for me in the white forest
Hiding in a hollow tree (come find me)
I know you hear me,
I can taste it in your tears."

Italy is definitely beautiful, some areas especially so. I think it's one of my favourite sceneries in the world with places like the Amalfi coast.

Where would you go?
Our politicians only have the vaguest idea of Brexit too :') right now "we" are choosing a new prime minister, by which I mean only the politicians are choosing from amongst themselves because of course that's how democracy works.
I would have to go somewhere either French or English speaking I think. I tried learning a new language recently (Korean) but my short term memory has been shot to pieces by my medication so nothing is sticking. I have to go to a place where I can already speak to people :')

memoriam wrote:Haha, omg, I hope they are behaving, Poles can be terrible xD You've got quite a diversed team :)

I wouldn't want to go to France or Germany, too many instances of terrorists and I have a tendency to exaggerate everything plus I value my life
LOL I am laughing because London is even worse and I go there several times a week *sob* J is legitimately worried I will die in a Tube suicide bomb attack or get run over by one of those terrorist car attacks.

The Pole is one of the best members of my team :D she is really reliable. So far the worst have been the Germans (unreliable), the Cypriots (bratty), and the English people (don't get me effing started).

@jacob: Well, then I'm sort of proud :D It's not the first time I hear a foreigner speak kindly about Poles at work. Maybe Poles are just terrible to Poles xD Or maybe the worst kind stays in Poland because then they at least have something to complain about XD Just speculating, lol. Or maybe it's just my Polish scepticism ;P
I'm surprised the Germans are amongst the worst for you :o They are thought to be very reliable etc. With English I am not as surprised, not because I think they are terrible, but because I think we tend to think the worst of our own nations xD

English people are super lazy though. We have such a long, historic record of immigration that people seem to believe all the menial jobs should go to foreigners (of course they complain that they are taking our jobs, but they wouldn't dream of applying for a low-wage job like being on the line in a factory, which is usually 90% Eastern Europeans (actual knowledge here lol as I worked in factories over summers while I was studying, and my mum is in upper management in factories)).

Also I think a lot of English people are very rude and awkward. They would rather stop turning up to work than have a confrontation about quitting lol. This is maybe my country bias like you say :P I also think young people are getting worse and worse with their work ethic.

I think with the Germans it's been something similar. They feel like they are 'above' working hard at a job like this so they stop trying and move on to something else.

Moi - That's a pretty good description. lol.
Do you have an ID? You should definitely always have one on you just in case you run into a racist cop or something. You can never be too careful.

I feel like if it was dry heat it would bother me but it wouldn't be nearly as bad as the humidity heat we get in Kentucky.

I definitely have family in England but I don't know any of them so I'm not very concerned about visiting them. If I ever went to Europe I would just look at everything and eat a bunch. lol. I love trying new foods.

Man, I hear that being a flight attendant is pretty cool. I mean, it's customer service but there are some really cool benefits with it. Though I also hear there is a weight limit on it. Can't be over a certain weight or they won't let you. I guess I can understand that but it's still annoying.

jacobgrey - Oh man. I feel that.
We have something called the electoral college. It's where the senators for each state also do a vote for president. Even if someone gets the popular vote (the ones the actual citizens vote for) the electoral college takes point. They decide. That's how we got the last two shit tast tic republicans. The popular votes were for the democrats but the electoral went with the republicans. Fucking GW Bush and Donald Trump. Ugh. I hate them so much.

Just don't come to the US man. Especially if you're any sort of minority. Shit sucks here for them/us. (I am white, but I am also a disabled woman who isn't 'straight')

Plus people get shot here freaking constantly. It's insane.

I have no strong opinions about any particular European peoples. I've only really met British people and they seemed fine.

'they seemed fine' is probably the most apt description ever for British people XD

It reminded me of the Dollop, a history-based podcast which I listen to pretty much obsessively. They have this running joke about how if you see white people coming, JUST RUN haha. everyone in history who isn't white was like "hey these guys seem fine" and then... well we all know the rest XD

Yeah, my soon to be sister-in-law, who was born biologically male, used to live in the US with her wife (who will soon also transition into being her husband). They got the hell out of Dodge after only a short time. The wife/soon to be husband also suffers from chronic back pain so things weren't good for them. It's not a whole lot better over here but at least marginally so, and free healthcare definitely helps.

(also man is it difficult to refer to those guys without just using their names or speaking to someone who already knows them XD)

@jacob: Lol, yeah I've watched a documentary of sorts about British people and work and they touched on that. They took two or three unemployed Brits and had them hired in jobs that actual immigrants usually take, so as you said, factory lines etc. One of them didn't even show up on the first day. His explanation was the unemployment money is better than just working such a low job, or something along tose lines. The second guy got there late and didn't work properly, then he just said it's not for him so he quit... on the first day.
And boy oh boy, did it sound familiar. It's the same here in Poland wiht Ukrainians. Poles keep whining that Ukrainians take our jobs but they really don't. Mostly they take some house/office keeping jobs, which no one really wants. Besides, what's so bad in a young Ukrainian person getting educated in Poland and working here a proper job, I mean decently paid one. I see nothing wrong with it, but people are rabid dogs ;/

Hahah, yes, it's confusing for both sides. I mean we got it, but it was complicated to explain :D

Right? And then it's crazy that these same Poles are coming over to this country and working so damn hard it's unbelievable. When I was doing summers at the factory there was this married couple who both worked there. They were doing 12+ hour shifts. So they alternated shifts, him during the night and her during the day, so that one of them would always be at home with the kids. They would see each other for 5-10 minutes during the shift handover or if one of them was doing overtime, and this was the whole total time they spent together as a couple. That's insane to British people. No one would work that hard just for minimum wage.

Our unemployment benefits have at least got a little harder to get now. and they aren't very high. J has been on them a couple of times when he was looking for work. You're expected to do the equivalent of a full workday in looking for jobs to get the payout, and you have to prove you did it. I'm sure people still game the system though.

Omg, I would die working like that, it's not healthy even D:

Wow, how do you prove something like that? show them your browser history? XD
In Poland the money is only for a few months I think and then you're on your own if you didn't find anything. And the officials are forced to send you to some courses or at least offer you courses and you have to agree to take them (to prove you're actively trying to improve your qualifications and what not). If you don't agree then they just take away the money, because you're being picky and it doesn't matter if it's something out of your expertise or interest. These laws are complicated though, too complicated for my taste. But maybe it's a good thing, idk.

I think you have to literally tell them what you did and when, what response you got, which interviews you've been to, etc. And showing proof of email confirmations as well.
I haven't done it myself but I think for J he hasn't had to try hard to prove anything because he's only done it for a couple of weeks each time. But I saw a film based on this whole issue where the character went and talked to people in person but therefore had no proof so they wouldn't give him his money (it was a pretty anti-government film so maybe there is a pinch of salt needed).
