I have to say, I really love the gingerbread theme of this year's Doughnight, but now I really feel like baking some gingerbread...

Uh... I'm sure this event is fun and all, but I really don't have THAT much time to spend on this site, so I think I'll just skip this doughnight event, this year.

The event is very nice, but I know I'll be away from the computer at least a few days this month... Will we have a little extra time after the 24th, in order to gather the ingredients we needs to open the rest of the gates we might have missed ?

I feel like the sugar is going to be a major problem. I've looked at all the links at the top and I've only found 3 sugars. Is there anywhere else?

Bug ? I guess so since we're supposed to find 4 in a day in order to get the item... with this rythm we'll only get a quarter of what we're supposed to have ^^"
I am not quite sure I understand the problem here? You can find 5 sugars each day. As soon as you collect one you get a countdown telling you when the one you collected reappears on the site. Under the countdown you see how many sugars you can still currently collect.

I believe that you can find 4 sugars a day that are hidden through out the kingdom. Cause if you look under the count down, you will see how many you may collect. So far I have found 2, so I shall keep looking. ^^
You can find 5 each day, as explained in the announcement.

This event is confusing and boring so far.

Where I do I look for sugar?
Do I look in every thread?
Do I look in my PMs?
Do I look at peoples profiles?
Do I look at the market?
Do I look in the shops?
It would be helpful to know where exactly sugar can be located so I don't have to spend 5 hours just looking at the entire site for sugar.
If you find it boring, the good thing is that you don't have to take part in it! :mcwink:
You can find Sugar all over the site. It can be in a thread, a PM, in a profile, in the market, in a shop. However, obviously, because we are not nuts, it cannot be in EVERY profile, or every thread. If a sugar is hidden in profiles, then it will be visible on the first random user profile you visit. If you have visited ONE random user profile and there is a sugar there or not, then you do not need to look through any other profile anymore. Same goes for threads-
Induzrael wrote:ok so basically it's like the easter eggs and stuff ? you can find all 5 at the same time but when you click one it takes 5 hours to renew ?

I thought one would pop every 5 hours and one at a time.
No, you can find 5 each day, not every 5 hours. They appear all AT ONCE and then the next one will start appearing 23 hours after you collected your first one.
Meags wrote:What if you happen to miss a sugar? Like, you click another link and you miss clicking on the sugar? Will it pop up elsewhere? :mcconf:
You can just go back. Sugars do not disappear unless you collect them.
Zupprika wrote:The sugar search reminds me of the easter event x)
Does it work the same ? One forum page is enough ? Or do we have to check every page ?
One forum page is enough. We aren't nuts trying to make you go through tenthousands of pages to collect sugar.
Basically you just need to click on something like 35+/- pages each day to cover all possible locations.
Hamda wrote:glad it's not just me searching for the last sugar :qhehe:
are the pages the same for everyone or is it random?
They are random.

This is what you are looking for:

Blaise Aurel wrote:I don't see what's wrong with it just being an advent calender.
The work starkad and I had to put into it each year and the gain (=user activity) it had for this site was completely out of proportion. We spend countless hours on creating the calendar, users spend 5 minutes collecting the items on the 24th and the items were worthless even years later.
Ziaheart wrote:After opening the first window, I noticed that it's locked once more. I wonder if that means if we manage more keys than needed we could open up the closed ones again?
I don't know about that, I need to ask starkad, though I think it would be better if you could not reopen the same window twice, otherwise people might do it accidentally, because the server time does not equal their local time and it might be confusing.
Wren_Fritsche wrote:
Will we have a couple days after the 24th to redeem the currency for the 24th window? or is the 24th the only day you can unlock the 24th window?
I cannot say a date for sure, but I think the calendar will stay open till at least the 27th. Depending on how far people will be with collecting their ingredients we might extend it for longer too, but I fist have to see how it goes and how well people will manage.
Hitorin wrote:Eh, it'd be a lot nicer if not for actual things to work for... Sweeter or not, the advent is usually a nice, happy time of free gifts, not work at all.
No, actually the advent is "a time of repentance and abstinence". But this is a winter event. It has little to do with Advent and Christianity. :mcwink: If you want to see it as a time for free gifts, then just kindly regard the countless hours me and starkad put into this site every day without getting anything in return as our free gift to you. :mcwink:

To all of you liking this event so far: Thank you, we are happy that the work we put into this is appreciated!

Thank you for all those answers, it clear up all my questions so far ! Seeing how it went today, I think it shouldn't be so hard to have everything, we'll just have to share and and be at least a little active each day.
