Aren't blackberries supposed to bloom now like most fruit trees and bushes? What's a blackberry winter?
Local belief is that we always get another good cold snap right before or during the time the blackberries are in bloom, and I've seen lots of big, beautiful blooms on the trails lately. A few weeks back was "dogwood winter" when the dogwoods were in bloom. And I think there is a third one out there...? At least our unstable weather is predictable by some standard! @w@
Oh, I get it now! Where exactly do you live?
I can't think of similar beliefs here. We only get the checkered weather in April. There's even a saying about it in Polish but I can't be bothered to translate it now. Mostly because it rhymes and would lose its charm through my lazy translation xD

Northeast Alabama, USA.
One of the things I used to collect was weather superstitions and folklore. If I had unlimited time, it's one of many things I'd like to go back to working on. I can't imagine how many cool sayings there are worldwide given how many biomes and latitudes there are.

We got an “amber warning” for heavy rain.

An "amber alert" is definitely missing kids in the USA. So is Canada or Hong Kong saying "amber warning" for moderate risk weather? Certainly less dramatic than our "SEVERE WEATHER ALERT" for a normal spring rain that lasts more than thirty minutes.

Amber alert is for missing children in Canada and the States. In HK, it’s an “amber rain” for severe rainstorms. They have three levels: amber, red, and black. Amber is 30mm per hour rain.

I think that's the same rate that gets us the "flash flood" warnings, if I'm reading the conversions right. We're both in a subtropic areas, so I can imagine what fun the rainy season is bringing y'all right now. @w@

Meanwhile I'm clueless about alerts in Poland. They just send us a heads-up text and then either nothing happens or it's not that severe. Other times the alert comes one day too early and the actual weather even happens the next day or so. The funniest thing is when the rain/wind is bad one day, no alert, then the next day they send the alert text but the weather has already calmed down xD
I think we only use colors yellow and red for severity alerts. Haven't ever seen any other color. Then again, Polish weather is not that flimsy. We do get strong winds and storms sometimes, or floods. Or draught. But it's hardly ever a disaster.
