Well, it's an accent/dialect. There's Tokyo-ben and Osaka-ben. XD Regional things. I'm fairly certain that "atashi" is tokyo-ben cause Usagi uses the word in Sailor Moon. *nerd*

Yes, it's feminine. XD Boku is masculine.

Well there's also "Ore" and "Wai" Ore I believe is also masculine and kinda... low-class? And Wai is Osaka-ben. I dunno if there's a gender thing or not. ^_^;;

What's the point of boku? Is it similar to desu, or something? XD I've always wanted to know...

Boku wa Mikeru.
Experience: Delinquent (Took some classes, but over time I forgot about 90% of it.)
I want to learnbrush up on my Japanese because I'm pretty sure that I could pick it up again if I had more people to practice with.

Yo, everyone! Judging from the title, at first I thought you guys were advertising Reanna's art shop thread (same name), lol. Anyways, if you're all studying Japanese, I'd like to join too... but I don't really want to call Ayame "sensei" >__>;;

I'm not even sure how far apart we are in terms of education...but after forgetting two semesters' worth of Japanese, I no longer have the bragging rights to say that I know any of it (not even to say "sukoshi" v__v; ).

For now may I just call you Aya-san, Ayame? And Deirdre... well, she can be "sempai" since I know she knows a heck of a lot more than I do. XD;; I was harassing her about it the other day too. ^__^; As for myself... well, since this is a "class," I guess it's only polite to make do with the suffixes (that'd be pretty fun, right?) However, no "Mika-chan" please. I really dislike it. >__>; (Call me Mikael-sama and we'll get along just fine. XD)

Like I said, I'm really bad at Japanese, so prepare yourselves for a lot of grammatical errors and misspellings. Depending on how much time I have left tomorrow, I may actually start digging around my closet for old J-class notes (though I think I gave that, along with my best Japanese dictionary, to my younger brother). Douzo yoroshiku.

Boku is a prounoun... kinda like the "watashi" for boys. However, people rarely use watashi as it is... XD;; My sensei says that the Japanese would prefer not to center the conversation around themselves too much, so they don't use it often.

I've never heard of "wai" but I do know that "ore" is a more rude way for men to say "I" *nods*

Oh, btw, this chat is just for hanging out as much as it is for learning Japanese right? :3

Also, I'd like to design a mascot for this place too, if there was a contest. XD Juxta has Edain, and the KofW has Sheridan... I think that I'd definitely love to have something like the two-tailed cat or fox-boy for this hangout. XD

Aaaah, and my computer won't read Japanese. =__=;; It's been giving me so much trouble lately... says that I need to find the original CD it came with to install it.
