Piece of cake, actually. I have no idea what the process is in other countries or even other states, but here in Alabama, you go to your probate judge or the records section where they keep the applications, fill out an application to be a notary, pay $10, get a letter if the judge approves you if they could use a few more and you don't have any felonies, I paid $59 to have my bond recorded (bonds are required), and there you go. Order your stamp and supplies, and you're at work. Granted, work is very, very slim, so it's best to do as an add-on to your main job. I use it to help drum up business at the tax office since I absolutely suck at advertising, and I can present myself directly as a friendly, competent person in one-on-one settings.

It'd probably help if I remembered to do quotes. XvX;
Job gossip and then the application process to become a public notary, not to be confused with Notario Publico in the USA, who are actually bar attorneys and can draft legal documents. Us humble civil public notaries began and end with "you must match your photo ID, swear you reasonably understand the document, you are not under duress, and sign this document in front of me". Fun fact for Alabama: the only way to get married now is getting a marriage certificate notarized. No more preachers, justice of the peace, etc. to sign your certificate before filing it at the court house, just a notary stamping your sheet before you turn it in at the court house. So far I've married four couples and divorced two or three.
I'm curious: what does everybody else do? Do you have any cool stories?

quotes? or you can do spoiler tabs. (don't know what you're talking about pftha)
but like......if you think its too much of a wall of text, spoiler tabs work wonders to cut down on the visual wordiness. lol

I don't have any good work stories to share but I work at a tax office too. But not as high ranked as AsheSkyler and we don't so notary stuff etc. We've got enough work anyway. I'm mostly busy with accounting and Annual financial statements etc.

I'm a substitute teacher, but I'm about to graduate from college. There's constant talk about something going around schools. I hope I can get the right job.

I forget about the spoiler thing. ^_^;
@Kirsch: I will keep you in my thoughts nonetheless in the upcoming months, especially if you're more "full featured" with payroll, bookkeeping, and sales tax, which it sounds like you are.
@Outline: Cool! Any grade you're aiming to teach?
