Metal, alternative, and folk are my top three genres.

Shortly followed by related genres like those meditative and ambient soundtracks all over YouTube.
I wish folk instruments were more prevalent in music these days. One thing that sticks out to me about 80s rock is that they had no qualms with breaking out a saxophone, harmonica, or flute. Annnd then there's folk metal. The Hu blended Mongolian throat singing and the horsehead fiddle / morin khuur well into their work, and then along comes Bloodywood with a mix of metal, rap, alternative, traditional Indian drum, bamboo flute, Hindi, Punjabi, and English.
Like, all in one song. And it works. o_o
The internet has a lot of faults, but bless it for how the overall artistic world has blossomed because of it.
