My ex and a friend of his did one where they were trying to outrun a "dragon" and failed
There really isn't any consequence to failing, outside not finishing it
The one I did was exploring an ancient Egyptian tomb
The area had a couple others, one iirc being sci-fi themed
But hey if you don't wanna do it, that's okay
There's a similar vein but your not locked to a room or series of rooms that my ex and I did.
Spoiler
Famous pirate locked his chest and anyone who could figure out the clues would get his treasure. That meant wandering the area, into different themed sections, others playing different games. One was trying to find a lost "famous image". Every person/group is on a different game so while you can cooperate and help each other, there's also staff/characters to help. I somehow skipped seven steps in a clue and still got to the right area. And since I'm super pale and was dressed all in white, I had some ghost vibes going
Our main character was an intern, first day. He said he tried the clues, considered himself a bit of a pirate, and couldn't figure it out. Each game has a character who starts you off like that, and sometimes you need to seek them out. For instance, one of our clues was that "a pirate stole this number" and my ex was stumped. I remembered the internship mention of being a pirate and pointed it out, so off we went hunting for the guy. We found him in this one L shaped zone, which had an entry on both sides, helping another group out. My ex veered off to one and hoped I'd get what he was getting at: go in the other way and pinch the guy so we don't have to chase him down
It worked, and he wanted all the treasure. I don't know what the normal way to 'convince' him was cuz I threatened to bite him with a very unfriendly smile and I think I accidentally scared the poor guy, so he skipped over the convincing part and jumped to "okay I'll give it to you once you help me real quick", which was pretend to be ghosts to scare another character into giving him back the money he was owed. Later we cheesed a part because my ex could jump and I'm tall, which the guy was absolutely entertained by. Later on, after we'd left, we passed the place (both locations are in the same mall) and the intern was talling the guy up front that he's a vampire now LOL
