Oh to be able to sleep through any illness and wake up feeling fine :mcargh: That's the dream!

Fingers crossed that your hubby's surgery goes smoothly! :mcglee:

He does that with pretty much anything, whenever he has a fever or whatever. He did hardly noticed he had COVID either.
Sleep through it. Let the body heal.

Well, it should not be a complicated surgery. Actually he will be discharged in the same day, if everything goes well.
The only problem is that it has a kinda long recovery, but well, at least it's not risky.

That is impressive!
Recently a student of mine got COVID, and she had a fever for days and is still recovering. It was a shame because she had to drop her summer school classes due to having to miss too many days D:

Oh yeah I think you've mentioned before about the long recovery. He won't be able to sit very well was it? :O

Yeah, my parents needed months to fully recover from it.
I think I'm already feeling better, but it was not as easy as your regular flu.

Exactly, he won't be able to sit much.
Anyway the surgery went really smoothly, they also were fast - no delays on the expected schedule - and he's back home :mccute:
All great :qn: :qn: :qn:

Yay for smooth sailing!~~~ :qn:

I'm envious of the recovery abilities of young children LOL

Recently we've been working around the house right? And I've never felt so old D: We did most of the heavy lifting before the weekend, and my muscles and joints are still sore :mcargh:

Yeah, we are not getting any younger.
I remember when I was 20, I could go a whole night with no sleep and still be a person the next day.
Now I sleep poorly one night and I'm a zombie...

Not to mention that since I gained weight everything is physically more complicated for me.

I am in my twenties and I am a zombie when I sleep badly (and I sleep badly often OTL) :mcargh:

But just a few years ago I could pull all nighters like no big deal QAQ

Ahhh, weight gain is difficult. I am once again envious of young children and teenagers who can eat and eat and stay skinny. Nowadays I have to watch what I eat a lot more :mccry:

I don't really mind all nighters any more tbh.
When I was younger I would - sometimes - party all night, that was fun. Now I'm just not interested, my leisure time is something completely different. I don't miss it.
But I do miss the way my body would keep up with pretty much anything.
Now I live exhausted half of the time...

Yeah, weight is a bummer.
I should watch what I eat, but I don't. I'm not proud of myself in that area of my life.
I see how I gain and gain and gain weight, and I feel worse and worse and worse, but I haven't been able to find the mind shift I need to make real lifestyle changes.

Weight is such a difficult issue because it's often a very negative closed-loop cycle eh D:

You gain weight, you feel bad, you want to feel better, and the easiest way is often food (carbs = serotonin)... :mcdead:

For me, I gained quite a bit in the years that I finished uni and started working because those were the most stressful times, and a combination of stress + lack of sleep + irregular eating habits created that terrible food cycle D:

The catalyst that got me to make changes was weighing myself after a long time of not doing so and being slapped in the face by the number OTL. And fortunately, my job had stabilized and I had a good environment to support making changes.

At the end of the day I think it's half situational (timing, environment) and half grit (pushing through despite the pain of exercising and the cravings). So it's again, a very difficult issue :mcdead:

Agreed.
For me personally my weight gain began after my son was born. I was always exhausted and I ate too much because my body craved the energy.
Took me years to get a medical diagnosis, but I do have hypothyroidism, which is what caused the exhaustion. Not the weight gain directly, only indirectly.

Anyway now I've got my meds and I do not feel that tired, but I keep gaining weight...
Just not so fast as it used to be.
But I'm definetely not losing it.

I suppose I should ask my endocrinologist about dietitic changes, but I'm afraid she'll just give me the classic useless advice: eat cleaner, make some exercise.
Yep, I know. But I don't know how to actually do it!
