(I can't help it QAQ the appeal of knowing the entire plot of the Insidious saga without having to suffer the actual horror was too greaaaat)

I am so torn on how I feel about the whole social media career thing. On one hand it IS a super good option for people who are creative and gives the audience a lot of fun content. On the other hand, I feel like many people are using it as an easy way out to justify not pursuing higher education or jobs :mcsad:

But then again that's likely what our parents thought about jobs like being artists and musicians back in the days too? It's all a circle XD

I hink the social media career is alright.
The only problem is that young people do not understand how it actually works, in the same way they don't understand how hard a work you must do to become a singer, or an actress, or a soccer player.
They believe in the "oh, they discovered me while I was working as a waitress" bullshit. No effort, no improving yourself, no drilling, no trying and trying and trying... until you finally have your lucky chance.

People who do monetize social media do not upload random vids to tiktok, using only the default filters or whatever.
There is a lot of learning there. Lightning, recording, sounds, edition... and of course market research!

That's a good point, and definitely a line to be drawn.

Maybe when platforms like YouTube was just starting out, home video quality content could get popular easily. But now the competition is quite fierce , you have to commit a lot of time and resources if you want a chance there. It definitely requires a lot of grit.

Side note: how was your son's birthday? :D

My sister watches stuff I just don't understand.
She's 15 and I'm 33 xD
I don't know how much of that is age difference.
I feel old.

Yeah, but when it was starting not everybody had a camera on hand. Now pretty much any mobile device has a decent camera.
So it's still the same: you had to do some investment to begin with... and some (not all) of those who did the investment managed to find a niche and make some profit out of it.

The birthday was nice.
We invited the family (his four grandparents, aunt, uncle and cousin) and his best friend from school.
The weather did not help, so we had to stay indoors, but anyway the kids had a lot of fun anyway.

Now the fashion here is bringing the whole class to a... park with balls? I have not the faintest idea how to translate it, it's a plaything for kids, colourfully cushioned, and stuffed with soft balls, so they can run crazily around xD
Anyway I just don't want to invite the whole class to anything (yeah, I'm such a jerk) so we do this small thing at home.

@Moi: I suppose in this kind of topic it's quite a bit of an age difference.
You are a grown up woman while she's a young girl...

Oooo a ball pit! I think that's what I've heard it called.
Wow I remember playing in those when I was a kid :OOO
(Though, wouldn't those places be really hard to sanitize nowadays?)

Ball pit. Sounds like it.

I suppose they are extremely hard to sanitize.
I just don't think they do...

I usually don't give permission to my kid to go to those parties anymore.
We made one exception - his best friend bday party, who was born only four days before him. He goes to hers and invites her to his.

Aww that sounds nice!

Yeaaah those kids play spaces may not be the safest nowadays :mcheh: It's nice that your son was able to celebrate with his best friend though! Quality over quantity~

Yeah, that's what I think.
It's nice being to parties, but you just don't have to go to every party.

Today both my husband and I were going to parties of our own - our students graduation party.
I chose not to go to the restaurant dinner afterwards, but my husband is still with his students in theirs.
