But yes, that's true, there is a big part of "believing" in the way we see things. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone, i feel like everyone is free to believe in whatever they see fit ^^
Aliens is... a complicated topic for me too XDD Considering how many planets there is and how many galaxies and solar systems and whatnot, it seems highlyunlikely that we are the only living beings in teh universe. Though, from a scientifical point of view, it's almost impossible for any other life form to inhabit a planet from our solar system: some are too close to the sun, some have terrible weather conditions, some are just big gas balls, so not very confortable places to live in lol. I wish we could see proof of an alien form of life during our life-time though, wouldn't that be cool??
(Also would be very happy if we could get proof of Nessie or Bigfoot existing XD)

See, that "sin" thing is precisely why I've never felt at the right place within any big monotheist religion... Sacred books have been translated so. many. times. that no one can still say for sure what was written in the first one that ever existed! So technically, no one has the right to say "this is a sin, this is not". People can marry whoever they want, for example, it shouldn't be anyone else's business.
Of course, when it comes to raping, murdering, robbing, etc. it's just common sense that one should never do it XD

Yeah, our solar system is quite poorly equiped for large life forms.
Still it's possible that there are many other types of life forms, for example microorganisms.

I have this pet peeve: when talking about aliens, most people tend to assume we are talking about human-sized (and often humanoid) intelligent highly-technological beings.
Well, maybe they are not!

But, yes, I agree. It's most likely they would exist in another solar system, not in ours.



Mistraslations are definetely a thing.
Specially when the text is written in such an old language, because translators must interpret what those old words would mean in our modern languages and often it's not so exact.

I'm absolutely sure that the Bible was written with such a purpose.
The fact is that it's not a book wrote with the intention of being a book, but a compilation of texts of several authors who wrote different kind of things in different kinds of moments.
And many years later some of those texts were chose to be in the Bible, while others were left out simply because they did not fit its purpose.

The apocryphal texts are just as good as the canonical ones, but they were rejected for a number of reason - some just as cynical as that they did not match the mythology they were trying to create.


That was probably a reasonable thing to do - they wanted a reference book, one that supported moral and social purpose, and removed everything else.
But it's tricky that they don't acknowlege.

I've always been quite questioning, mostly due to curiosity.
Never reached the point of cynism really.

I don't think I've climbed a tree since I'm 8 or so.
Then trees lost all the appeal, I dunno why.


The priest in our parish was a very special man, I have so many fond memories of him.
He really did not mind our questioning, and always found a funny reply for every silly or controversial thing we asked.
