It was this casino like lottery ticket.
You know how on slot machines, you need 3 to match?
Well, it had multiple areas to scratch off and you could get 3 matching numbers on each one.
I kept getting matches like that over and over on the ticket so I was like "I must be reading this wrong cuz there's no way I've won this much money xD"

When I was a kid, my family was pretty poor. We're still pretty poor but when I was a kid, my mom and dad found this lottery ticket on the ground.
It said that is was a winner and there was a lot of money.
So we were so excited and happy and made plans and then my parents told me it was a fake ticket.
Someone had placed this fake lottery ticket down, hoping someone would get it and think they won money.
A big fat joke.

I have a good sense of humor. I can laugh at a lot of things. I didn't find that ticket funny and I still don't. It fills me with pure rage when people use these tickets and play jokes on people. It's not funny.

I've never played in a casino.
I've to casinos only a few times in my life, and only for the sake of seeing the inside of one - but I do not like gambling.

Last year I told my students about different lottery-like and casino games (even taught them to play blackjack!) and they asked me which games I actually played.
"None, of course. I studied Probability."
They did not get it :mclaugh:

But yeah, some people have this wrong sense of humour.
What's funny about people having money problems, or health problems, or anything else serious?
It's very bad taste if such jokes come from people who do NOT have nor understand said problems.

Well, my holidays are over.
Back to work today.

My kids went back to school as well! They always have to take ALL the books and the supplies on the first day, dress up in funeral clothes for the "celebration". But my son was so happy with his new backpack (like, birthday 2 weeks ago) and asked if he should put it on his bike yet. Like, we built a backpack-rack on the bikes this summer for the holiday and they're quite happy with it. I'm not for stopping 2 enthusiastic boys on their mission, so they biked back to school with the whole package.

Meanwhile, traffic jam in front of the school, lol. Not really, it's a small town, but still, there were a lot of cars. I drove by, lol.

It's up the hill, but only 3km. And I helped them with installing the bags, so I think they're fine. :) :)

I love that they at least really look forward to the first day, hope that'll never stop. <3 But I doubt it, but one can hope.

Enjoy your first day at work again, Amura! :D

As for lotteries, gambling. I hated math at school, except statistics. So, I loved the probability calculations and gathering information. As much as I despise the enquiries on the phone, I love organising the data. Buut, before they always told me any lottery is a waste and after calculating it, I don't even understand why people buy it. Don't even see the fun in it, I'd rather buy shoes on sale. <3

Which I did last week and I love them. <3 <3
I got these and these

My excuse is always that my feet do not grow anymore, luckily. And I do wear all my pairs, I just have one pair for every day of the week. :mcargh: <3

My little one is very excited with his backpack too!
We bought him a Pokemon one with sequins on it. Because he loves Pokemon and he loves sequins :mclaugh:
Not so excited about school though, he doesn't care much about it - does not hate it, but never loved it either.
He'll start on 9th, so still a few more holidays for him.

Yeah, that kind of games are not thrilling for me either. I guess that depends on your temperament.
Which saves a lot of money. Better spent on shoes :mcwink:

And I must say you're a fancy lady, good for you.

I'm not fancy, I just love wearing dresses and skirts. Especially dresses, you never have to match a top to a bottom, so that actually saves time. I do like matching my shoes. :) :)

That sounds neat! I got him the backpack, no pokemon, but a dark one with neon splats. :) My eldest got notebooks (?) with angry birds, middle one I got a set with skaters and cute koala's. He loves them both as I thought. Love how their personalities are different, but in general I do tend to guess right, clothes wise as well. :) Still, luckily.

School always starts on the 1st here in Hungary as stupid as it is. Like, even if it's a friday, I don't get it, but well. It also always ends on June 15th.

Tomorrow classes will start, my middle will get his first English class. His teacher stinks, but he doesn't know that yet. I offered him help, we'll see. >.> English tuition is... interesting here so to say. >.> I always believe languages are a tool, something to be used. Not something to be studies for 20 years and still not being able to USE it. I prefer focusing on using it, buuut I guess that's another cultural difference I've found here. :mcheh:

That sounds fancy to me - but I'm as plain as one can be, so maybe I don't have the best perspective :mclaugh:

Here classes begin a bit later (this year on 9th) and also end a bit later (last week of June) so I guess we can say we have pretty much the same calendar.
The problem with those calendars is that people who make them really are not thinking that they are for kids: first day being a Friday or last day beging a Monday just don't make any sense.

I think the same about learning foreign languages.
Here they have English classes since they are 3. Seriously? They hardly speak their own language yet!
And when they get to school, it's all grammar and vocabulary, something else to memorize. Instead of simply trying to communicate in a new language, poorly at first and better with practice.
I do love languages, but I do not think hat's the way to go.

Oh, so I understand you're not natural from Hungary?

I've never been to a casino, but I know how slot machines work. The ticket was basically a match 3 and you win.
The only game I'd care to play is Blackjack.
It's easy to play.
I'd say I don't gamble but I spend money on gacha games xD;

Yeah, I don't understand how pranks like that are funny.
I remember these people pranking their friend with one of those tickets and he was so happy and excited.
They filmed the whole thing and when he found out it was fake, you could tell her was upset.
Everyone else was just laughing their heads off.
Wasn't funny >>

Yeah, I don't buy lottery tickets, but if someone gives me one, I'll scratch it off xD
I was just lucky I won that much.

I remember when radio programs made jokes. They were quite popular.
I never got them, and I turned the radio off or switched to a casette/CD whenever I was in the car and they started with those programs.

People also have a thing with filming everything. And what's worse, sharing everything.
They really don't know where is the line.

Nope, I willingly moved to Hungary, but live here for a third of my life already. :mcheh: I'm Dutch. But also became a Hungarian a few years ago, kinda silly 'cause inside the EU it shouldn't matter, but it does. Apparently.

But I grew up with a 6 week summer holiday, I dunno why it's so long over here, but really, this year was the first time I would say it was fine. :) The kid's are getting bigger as well, that helps. Curious to hear how the first English class was, he was looking forward to it, I really really hope they did not kill his expectations on the first day... Buuut we'll see.

Pranks are stupid. :> Never really liked them to be honest, especially if they hurt someone else. Jokes are fine, but usually they're more harmless. :) And in general I prefer stand up comedians who don't just ridicule other's but can make fun of themselves as well. :)

Yeah, I've known people with double nationality. I live quite near a border, and it's not unusual that people have family in both sides and get a double nationality.
One would think that those things would matter less and less nowadays.

Here kids have a 2 months summer holiday.
But in our case the reason is the weather. You can't really do when it's too hot - and there are regions in Spain with quite a hot weather all summer long.
I don't think that's the case for Hungary.

I've always thought that humor is funny when the comedy develops horizontally (jokes about yourself, situations common for people in your own social and economical level, etc.) instead of vertically (joking about people who have or know less than you, who are marginalized for whatever reason).
That's the line between humor and mockery.
