I guess I'm more into the bright colors, or the contrasted color schemes.
But as I said, I still have to give it a try.

I don't like that much contrast. I have the issue of blending my avatars together with too few colors and barely anything's visible. I mean, I can see it, but when I show Ash my newly created avi, he usually tells me it's almost monochrome

Even when I try to do something monochromatic (such as my current one) I can't help adding accents of another color.

But I would say that your current one is absolutely colorful!

Ikr! But he's overly critical sometimes and when he says something looks okay, I take it as a compliment and leave it that way if I like it myself.

He's definitely one of those people But he spares a few compliments my way irl, so I can forgive him not being into my virtual leisure time stuff

I guess so. I need a lot of external validation (it's a work in progress ), even for tiniest things sometimes and he's the first person I turn to. Most of the time he instead encourages me to just be my own person.
He needs to be engaged and his mind kept busy, otherwise he gets bored easily, so stuff like avatar sites or just talking are not his jam He often has to do something else while listening to me, to actually focus on what I'm saying xD
