What state are you in?

My state still allows curbside pick up for restaurants, drive thrus, etc. It's just ridiculous that so many people are still gathering. I was driving home yesterday and saw some people out for a walk (which we are allowed) but they were chitchatting with another group of walkers. Like yeesh, we are one of the counties outside of the Chicago area that has cases.

I’m in New York. We’ve been pretty strict. We still have drive- throughs and pick up options throughout town but all stores with the exception of food, alcohol, and medication for the most part have been shut down.

Real talk for a moment: Can we Go back to that month that Pokemon Go was released. Everyone was so happy and the only people down my throat were old men at work who complained about a cell phone app kids were playing. Can we have that? Please.

Okay, for some reason I was thinking Maine, glad I asked. lol.

New York is bad though isn't it? At least from what I've seen in the news. Everyone in dissing on my governor, but at least he's being proactive about this. Like jfc it's my generation and the one under me that are being the worst about it. Not going to lie, I'm glad I never identified myself as either generation. I have a dr's appt tomorrow for my throat/tonsil issue and they called me up to screen me to make sure I didn't have any of the symptoms and then rescheduled me so they have the least amount of people in there as possible (which isn't hard since it's a small town dr. office). Like I didn't want to make an appt for this until after all of this, but it got so unbearable yesterday I literally wanted to rip my throat out it was that bad.

Yeah New York has had a lot of cases and its mostly because of two big reasons. 1. Like Boston which also has a lot of cases, New York City is a hub so there’s a lot of traveler traffic there. 2. New York is testing more people than most states are. New York was one of the first to approve getting test kits from private companies because they were sick of waiting for the federal government to provide them. Its not perfect, and we still don’t have enough kits to test everyone in our healthcare system but at least we can test those that are showing symptoms. The data that WHO has is all based off of confirmed cases from testing. I’m kinda happy we are taking testing serious over here, we can see the entire scope of the problem instead of guessing. Even with that though, the city is having a rough time.

Good luck at your appointment. Make sure to monitor your temp afterwards for 14 days just in case you get exposed.

I'm glad they are proactive. My governor is trying to be, but seriously, no one is taking this seriously. Just from Saturday to sunday there were over 1000 confirmed cases (which is the highest confirmed cases in 24 hours since this started). Like I'm waiting for completely shutdown of all businesses besides gas stations, grocery stores, and health care.

Yeah, I told the doctor it was better (which was true at the time) but after I came home it started acting up again. And now I have weird bumps all over the back of my tongue, so hoping they go away soon, but it's causing me pain again and giving me a chalky feel. I just don't want to pay to go again, plus waste their supplies. Saturday it felt like someone was trying to choke me, like their thumbs were on the center of my throat pushing in, and not the sides that were my tonsils being dumb.

SIDE NOTE: Yesterday was my older dog's birthday and I baked him a cake and oh boy, it was cute. Just took too long being like "how do I get picture from phone to computer." oh yeah, imgur is a thing.

Viktor happy for cake, Annie ready for cake (by the way, they both took them off the plate and made a mess)

Honestly, as much as the local economy will take a hit, they should shut down everything but the essentials over there. It will help with controlling everything. The city has been getting steadily worse and hospitals there are scrambling. I'm appalled with how things are being handled at the federal level. Our state asked for 4000 ventilators because we're gonna need them downstate and we got sent 400. That's only gonna cover like 1 or 2 smaller hospitals in the city. So the entire state is about to throw hands with the federal government. Where i am in upstate, we haven't had the surge of cases yet so we're doing okay. Our problem is having enough masks to go around. I can't even wear a mask while compounding drugs in the IV room.

Oh my god their reactions are so cute! I love how one is like "mom, this for me? I love you." and the other is like "I'm gonna destroy this in a second."

If it gets bad enough, i would see the doctor again. if you are in an area that's not badly affected by the virus, its still relatively safe to be there as long as you wash your hands and don't touch your face.

I agree with that. Like I work with a bunch of baby boomers and they think this is all out of proportion and we are going too extreme with this, but then turn around and say how this needs to be taken seriously. Make up your mind. This pandemic is showing how under prepared we are for any of this and we probably have the worst people up top to take care of this. There is a local group that has been making face masks and donating them to health facilities. I felt guilty because they gave me a face mask to wear at the doctor's office and it made my face so hot I almost took it off without thinking.

Yeah, it's a lot better today. The best it's felt in over a week. Hopefully it'll keep going upward from here. I almost made an appointment yesterday for today, because it was more jaw joint pain and medicine wasn't making it better. Still got a little stiffness in my jaw though which is normal for me.

Omg the moment I said "okay" which is more like "okay, okay, you can eat it now, yes now, eat." because I never figured out how to get them to learn okay after wait XD Annie just grabbed it from the plate and ran to the carpet. Viktor ate a bit before running.

That’s cute! We have some groups around here making masks. They just donated a big box of them yesterday for pharmacy. I’m not sure if we can wear them in the IV room though because usually things have to be sterile for us to bring them in. We work with a glove box though so they might bend to rules for us.

I’m glad its getting better, and hopefully you won’t have to head back to the doctor’s office.

The probably love it judging by that reaction.

My aunt on my dad's side had a sever stroke last night. My dad was texting me to let me know. They don't know how bad it is, but she was on life support. They weren't letting anyone visit until her covid-19 test came back. But she's at a nursing home so, don't know how they will let people visit her. I'll probably ask my dad how she's doing today if he knows more, but what a shitty time for something like this to happen. I probably haven't seen her in a better than 8 years, but she's always on facebook XD

Honestly I feel the best I've felt in over two weeks, finally.

They do. It's a super simple recipe too and it's easy to make.

edit in case you're curious: My aunt is dying alone and they won't let anyone see her. I understand they are worried, but this is too sad. I wouldn't want to die alone. I wouldn't want to not be able to see my parent's before they pass if they are on their death bed.

That's so horrible! I'm sorry you have been going through this and I'm sorry she doesn't get to see anyone before she passes. This whole pandemic in a nightmare for hospital visitation of critical care patients. I would call the hospital and see if they could make an exception for her kids to come in. We let a close family member come in and see their dying relative. They just had to be all garbed up first so they didn't get contaminated.

If you need to talk I'm hear hun.
