Got a bunch of writing done today again. Might have to go grocery shopping tonight, but after traveling half the day, I don't feel much like it. *sigh* At least I'm nearly done with this section of my fic.

As usual did work, did a huge batch of chicken broth, took care of the plants outside and inside and walked my 10 000 steps a day.

Did a bit of cleaning. Panicked when my father fainted, while holding a glass, and cut himself on the broken glass (he's okay! Low blood pressure issues which just means slow increase of salt in his diet and not standing up too fast. I just panicked. He's really okay). Put up a key-holder on the wall (it was a gift), and incidentally reorganized keys. I have a fairly large trinket box full of mystery keys at this point. Read a few books, looked some stuff up online, paid bills and spent a bit of time trying to organize the mess I call my finances.

Finally came here to hide from life.

Blackbriar, I am impressed. Writing is hard work, and doing that on top of travelling half the day? That's amazing!

Kuuki, do you tend to add some stock vegetables in with the chicken when making broth, or not? I was talking to someone the other day about stock vegetables and it turns out she doesn't tend to use any at all when she's doing a meat broth, and it got me wondering how usual or unusual that was.

I don't use vegetables, mostly for cost reasons. I do put some herbs in it though. And also because the chicken I use is rotisserie chicken and it's more than flavorful enough not to use much else.
Most recipes I have seen do use them though so I guess it's a matter of preference.

I think since Kuuki is using rotisserie chicken, the chicken has enough flavor to not need vegetables. They use herbs too which is good enough. When you're adding vegetables like celery, carrots, onions etc. they're called "aromatics," so following that theme, I'd be guessing it's for flavor--which if you have from other stuff, should be totally fine.

Just plain chicken can make a broth too, but it's very different from the nice broth made with stuff in it.

I just got back from work. I need to make the gravy from my pot roast and eat dinner but I"m so tired I don't want to do anythiiiiiing.

Well, the price of the rotisserie chicken is half the price of the normal chicken, even at Costco, and it's good without the need to do anything. Of course I'd use rotisserie chicken XD

In the meantime, what I've done today is : work and mostly, I finally cleaned my windows after one year without having done it.
I need to do it more often.

Rotisserie chicken broth from Costco is great. Their chicken is way bigger than the stuff you get in regular grocery stores too. It's just a lot of chicken for one person to eat. XD

I came home from work, loaded and ran the dishwasher (yay, eveyrthing's clean!!), and I had an early Father's Day dinner with my dad since I can't make it Sunday night.

How's the texture of the frozen chicken when you defrost it? Or do you use it in stuff like soups where the texture isn't that important?

A good rest is always great. :) I always hope for a nice sleep on the weekends, but my body refuses to keep sleeping past my normal wake-up time. :mcargh: What's more annoying is during the week when I HAVE to be awake at that time, my body feels like it can keep sleeping. :mcsweat:

So far I've had breakfast/lunch, gone grocery shopping, and emptied out half the dishwasher. I need to get started cooking for the week, but I'm being lazy. :qwhee:
