Now that I'm thinking about all these eyes in conjunction with gems, I want to create a story where everyone has gems for eyes and the type of gem has meaning for each person.

I have green eyes with a golden brown starburst in the middle.
I kind of think I have cat eyes.

I've read a number of stories where various magic-users are missing one eye and have a gem replacement that aids their power in some fashion.
What always struck me as curious about those stories, is... why only one? My godmother's youngest has a missing eye from an infection back when he was a baby, and while he had just the one glass replacement when we were younger, he had to take it out and clean it regularly (he had the BEST tricks he could play), and by the time we were older he had a whole collection, and would swap them around depending how he felt that day. My favorite was this opaque black one, I kept telling him he needed to get one just like it with the constellations on it in miniature so it looked like the sky.
Anyhow.
Always made me wonder why those mages in the stories only ever had the one.

If you do that, I'm curious if they're like the fake eyes where you can pop them out and replace them and swap them around and all, or if they're some organic, magically-melded-and-self-cleaning permanent, semi-functional replacement.

@Akili Li

If you'd have 2 gemstone eyes, you'd probably end up looking like the pokemon Sableye...

I imagine I wouldn't do it like fake eyes and that all eyes are just like that. Either actual gems or just a weird, gem-eye infusion. But since it's natural, the body would work with it like it's normal.

I've never met anyone with a fake eye, but I think there are a lot of fun things you could do to make it your own. If you've got to have a fake eye, might as well personalize it.

Your eyes sound very pretty!

I have very light blue eyes. They look almost gray in some light. I like them, though with such light color they're particularly sensitive to bright light.

Wait is that an actual thing? Does iris color make a difference to photo sensitivity? I thought that was all about pupil reaction speed!

It is a think. Light colored eyes are very sensitive to light. Just like light colored skin. I have both. lol. Lucky me.
