How important are backgrounds? We don't use backgrounds on WKnuffel, i know, but if you want to draw a picture of NPC's, is it important to draw something?? I hope you know what I mean xD

Depends on your style I would say.
For example I hate drawing bgs but if I want to make clear something I overcome my laziness and try to make one.
It can show the atmosphere of an setting, but its not necessary at all!

Especially if it is just about to show off an character or expression.

I second Limikkin on Patreon being only for super well-established people, I tried twice (one for writing and one for my magazine) and it failed so hard lol. Even with putting months into the marketing. At one point I was listed in the top writers section on Medium, back when it was easier to find fiction there, and it still didn't encourage any traffic to go through from reading there. I think I read from statistics of others that you need something like 20k engaged followers before you can rely on Patreon making more than pocket change.
