While the candy caravan is here, every post (outside of the spam or word games forum) earns you one donut.
When it is gone, you have a random chance of earning donuts for posts (outside of spam/word games), and usually don't get any, but then when you *do* it might be 1-3 donuts (at least, I think it caps at 3? I've never gotten more than 3 at once)
I don't know of any way to get them other than posting, and they can't be traded. Although you can trade the items you get with them, naturally, so when you see people wanting to buy or sell donuts, really they're just setting a price-per-donut and then buying/selling the items you get from them.
