I think some people will opt for Santa or some such, but ours is an angel my great-grandpa made

As for the star, idk how on artificial trees with the lights built in, but the standard strings have plugs on the ends so you can chain them together and they can plug the star into that
Or it's possible their tree isn't very large, too
