Yeah, I've heard audiobooks with music and sound effects in. I don't know if it was better or not. After a while it feels a bit kitschy, but I guess there would be ways for it to be done well.
Maybe it's just not the trend because this was something they used to do in old timey radio shows, so people thing it's outdated.

I haven't tried listening to audio books yet. I fear that I won't concentrate on that..

*hugs Alice*
It is great, but I have read HP 1 in Russian already, this is going to be my groundwork for the paper.
If you know any books or articles on that (by chance :D?) I would appreciate it very much :D

articles in russian..?
there was a huge scandal/wave of disappointment around the translations by Maria Spivak, though they weren't bad at all but the "original" translation by Rosman Publishing was the one people grew up with and they (the people) didn't forgive Spivak who changed some things, partially to better match the English pronunciation, partially because in existing translation they became basically Rosman's trademarks. everyone kept sending her death wishes and threats. when she died, they kept writing "at least she won't translate anything anymore". how I love people! are you interested in that stuff?

When I was skimming the literature today I found essays on that as well! Seems to be a hot topic, indeed. I think this will also be included in my paper, but won't be the focus.
I am going to compare the words Rowling used and the Rosman translation used in the semantic field of the magical world. I am not talking about Anthroponyms (proper names) here, but just words describing the magical world :)

But I think the Russian translation and HP in Russia is a really interesting topic! I also found essays on Tanja Grotter which people think as a replica of the HP books and the author described them as an "answer to the HP books" :D

People can be super mean, indeed. I read that she dies this year in summer, right? It's really mean to say/write stuff like that :(

I will never understand the motivation behind this. yea, she just died this summer

That is so cool that you have read HP in Russian! And that you get to utilize that for a school project. Awesome :mchappy:
