I'm probably still at a healthy weight right now. And, with this Kardashian trend, it's not so bad to be this shape XD But I just know personally for me, when I was about 2 stone lighter, I liked my body a lot more, as well as how it felt. I have sore joints so it also helps to take a bit of weight off them and help them function better. So I'm aiming to lose about 2 stone in general, although I set myself a first goal of about 7 pounds before September when we go on holiday. Got that down to 5 already so I'm feeling positive.

I got rid of about 15 kg last year and I feel so much better now. I'm at a healthy mid-normal range weight, like my body and I can go running without my ankles protesting. I would never have thought how much of a difference it would make, since I was not terribly overweight, just a bit and I had gained the weight slowly. I mainly started working on it because I noticed that I was constantly gaining weight, so I knew I needed to change something if I didn't want to become really fat at some point.

Actually, there's a very distorted image of obesity around. A lot of things we see and think are just chubby or mildly overweight are actually already obesity and quite bad for people's health. These super crazy fat images that go around in the media when there's something about obesity are actually far beyond the point where obesity starts and the rare exception, not the general problem.
Most people think someone is very slim or even underweight when they're in a normal healthy range. Just because being somewhat overweight is the standard nowadays, so our eyes are used to that.

I find this all kind of sad, and I sometimes also blame too many tasty but really high-calory foods being around as well. But really, it's up to anyone to cut down on that. And by that I don't mean "never eat sweets again", but eat not as much at a time and maybe not everyday. Genetics actually play a much smaller role than people think. (Toxic, iirc you are german - if you are interested in a somewhat painful but very motivating read about the control you have over your own weight, I'd recommend "Fettlogik überwinden". Helped me so much and made me feel so much less helpless about my weight)

It's amazing how much you can also simply change in your cooking to still have tasty and filling meals with a lot less calories, simply by being aware of what your ingredients have and exchanging some things or adding low calory volume by e.g. grating a zuchini and a carrot into your sauce and taking less minced meat than usually. That actually tends to be cheaper as well, and it really doesn't hurt the taste overly, it can even be an improvement. Or cut down on the pasta amount and instead throw in some more veggies to fill you up, same effect. And then you have calories left for the occasional sweets as well, once you mastered that ;)
I personally don't think that it really is more costly to eat healthy - a lot of super processed and readymade meals are actually quite expensive, if you consider that it's just one meal and if you buy ingredients in bulk for cooking with them yourself they usually last you much longer.

//rant over, sorry

Size zero isnt healthy too.

So what is all about?
I know a lots of people that have normal weight, but they are sick nearly every month.
And then there are the others that hadnt been sick for years.

And I guess always watching weight and what to eat isnt healthy for your mental sake at all.

I don't think it's more expensive either! There are lots of fruits and vegetables that are pretty cheap, especially things like rice and potatoes which are great foods to make meals from. Also if you eat less food (I don't mean under eat, most people probably eat a bit too much) then you obviously don't have to buy as much food anyway, so, cheaper again. :mcglee:

That's actually a very good point Ghost, one thing I found was that I was just eating too much. I had gotten used to eating more than I needed and after cutting portion sizes for a while I got used to eating smaller meals again and they are enough and satisfy me. Of course that's cheaper then :)

Toxic - The health risks of obesity are not about whether you get an infection more or less likely in a month. Most of the risks are more long-term, they show up when you are old, or are risks for very dangerous illnesses like heart attacks, not your run-of-the-mill cold. Or things like your joints hurting, that are more like a constant problem, not an acute illness.
There's lots of medical studies about these things, and they're pretty clearly showing that normal weight (not underweight, but you might be surprised at what underweight actually looks like) carries the least risks.
That's not to say that someone who is overweight might not have a perfectly fine life and be lucky to not be affected by any of these issues, it's only statistical info and not an automatic "if you're overweight, you'll definitely get this" after all. And if people are happy with their body and don't suffer from any problems, it's their choice to not do anything about their weight. The thing that I really hate is just when people say it's not their choice, it's genetics, or money, or whatever that dooms them to being overweight. Because if they're not happy with it, if they don't like their looks or are worried about health risks, or would like to be more fit but their joints hurt when they do sports, I want them to know that they can change it. It's possible, for everyone. Nobody should feel like they can't do anything about it and it's just what it is and they just stay unhappy. That makes me sad.

And you do make a good point that constantly restricting yourself is not great either, but from my experience, that's not what it needs to be. It's more about learning where the pitfalls are and changing your habits (e.g. with regards to how you cook, as I mentioned before) and then it's easy after that, it's not forever stressing about it.
I lost weight by tracking my calory intake, but after I was happy with where I was, I stopped tracking and I also indulged for quite a while in things I had denied myself during the weightloss and I still maintained my new weight mostly (didn't weigh myself regularly anymore either, so I can't say if it fluctuated in the beginning). I only recently started tracking it a bit again to support my bf, who got motivated by my success and is losing weight as well now.

I know about that.
And I know I will change more within the next months when my baby eats the same as we do.
