I'm doing a bunch of job searching today, and it made me curious as to what jobs everyone on here has.
Plus y'know, procrastination P:

I currently have a minimum wage job at a bar/ cinema - but I really hate doing shift work and having no structure to my week, so I'm looking for something better. Plus, if I could get paid more than minimum wage, that'd be nice xP
Plus I'm constantly working on my art skills/ portfolio and would love to start my career in the animation or games industry - so I keep applying to those jobs too, but I think it's still gonna be a while till I can get anywhere with that.

What job do you do?
What do you like/ dislike about it?
Dream job?
Are you job searching too?

i'm currently working as a hostess at an asian fusion restaurant! it's an okay-ish job. the place i work at does tend to get busy, so i'm usually stressed out trying to calm customers down. i would honestly rather work as a server, but what i do right now is fine. i'm currently a nursing student, so hopefully once i finish school i will have a job lined up and ready for me. :')

Yeah, I actually quite like working at my place, the staff are all great and the work is fairly varied, so it doesn't get dull - it's just the hours and lack of money xP

How long till you graduate? c:

I don't have a job because my parents want me to focus in school... but it's summer vacation and I'm high-key bored lol
I love drawing as well, but I don't think I would want to have a career in that area haha

Also, welcome back! c:

I'm so glad I saw this thread, since I just started a new job.

I work as a table games dealer at a casino.
Previously, I had been working as a slot attendant there.
The latter was fun, in that it was different from normal jobs and it paid alright.
However, when it wasn't busy, we were walking aimlessly and didn't have much to do.
I wasn't feeling fulfilled.
SO. I applied to transfer to tables to deal, and after working two days as a dealer,
I do feel a little more fulfilled than before?
I'm active and interacting with others more consistently.
It feels pretty good, so far.
And apparently it will pay even better.

While the casino doesn't host my dream job, it's helping me out a lot financially?
And it's always a good conversation starter. It's not your typical job.

I'd love to write professionally, though.
I haven't written much since I graduated university, but it's the long-term goal.
Hopefully I can get something published soon!

Haha, enjoy it while you can - having to work the majority of the year gets old very fast, although the independence it allows is nice c:

      And thank you! c:

Oooh, that does sound like quite an interesting job c:

I'm quite a fan of blackjack myself - do you have to watch out for people trying to cheat/ card count?
Do you get any perks from working in a casino?

I get discounted soft drinks and food in my bar and get to watch films for free whenever I want - so even though I am getting a bit sick of my current job, I still admit the perks are pretty good c:

And do you do creative writing or is it more journalistic/ non-fiction?
I've never had any formal education in creative writing, but I do enjoy it, and am currently trying to write a fantasy novel (albeit very casually - not even half way through the first chapter yet xP )

Yeah, we have to keep an eye out for it.
Since I just started, I'm not the best at it, but I'm sure I'll get better overtime.
As for perks ... not really? We can't play at any casinos owned by the company,
and we get a $5 employee meal at one of the restaurants? Lol.
We have a discount for the buffet, too, but it's really expensive to start so I never go.

Those perks do sound nice! I guess I do get free soda at work.
But so do the guests, haha.

Creative writing, mostly! Which is why it's hard for me to get going on it.
Haven't been feeling the creativity in a while.
Creative writing in university was really fun, if you can ever give it a shot!
I learned a lot there. Unfortunately, since I graduated, I haven't really been writing.
I don't have the same pressure on me as I did in class, haha.
Good luck on your novel! That's what I'm focusing on, too. Fantasy novel.
      I don't even have a chapter, so I'd say you're doing great. <:

Ah, that's a shame - although I guess it's good that they're not encouraging staff to gamble xP

What kind of story do you have in mind? c:
Mine's a high-fantasy deally with elves and dwarves and the like - I kind of feel like it's super cliche in a lot of ways, but it's a story I've had in my head since I was a young teenager, and an illustrator friend of mine wanted a fun casual project to work on, so I decided to finally try and focus on getting it done - really not expecting it to go anywhere tbh though, but hey, at least its fun, and it's got me writing consistantly again c:

          Yeah, university is fun, but it can be very draining, I've not been drawing nearly so much since I graduated - and I haven't animated anything since submitting my final film two years ago >.<;;
It so annoying - it's nice having a ton of creative outlets (I also like modelling and creating needle-felt sculptures, and have a craft fair that I'm doing a workshop for at the end of this month), but I find that I never have enough time to properly focus on anything, and a lot of my projects end up staying half-finished for months at a time, or just getting abandoned..

I wonder if I should try to focus on just one creative practice... but then I know I'd miss the others and constantly wonder if I'd made the right chouice... grrr.. xP

I work in a warehouse, packing and loading products on tables. I hate how there is work for me one day, and then I am out of work for a year.

That is why I am trying to work elsewhere. I am waiting for an e-mail for the information to arrive.
