So my daughter's main teacher is out due to her husband's grandmother is sick. I don't know the whole details just what a six year old can remember.

She comes home today and tells me that they made drawings of hand prints for a book for the teacher. The assistant teacher tells Joslyn her drawing was scribbled and the teacher tore it up.

WHO DOES THAT TO A SIX YEAR OLD?! A SIX YEAR OLD! So Monday Grandpa, Momma and the kiddo have to go to the school together and talk to the principal and the teacher. She better have a damn good explanation.

I just realized that "take out" means food, dating, and murder. And if you were a female praying mantis you'd have all three.

That sounds like a pretty horrible teacher :( Sorry your daughter had to suffer through that! Some people should just not work with small children...

Some people really should not be teachers.
I remember when I was in primary school one of our teachers was in hospital and the class was supposed to write their names on a card for him. The first child wrote his name on the card in huge letters, so there was hardly any room for the rest of the class to fit all their names on there even if they wrote their names in 1/10 of the size. Was it stupid? Yeah, kind of, but it was a primary school kid.
The teacher freaked out and yelled at him and called him a pompous snob. He got really mad and I remember the incident till this day, even though it was almost like 30 years ago, because it scared even me.

Well I talked to the Principal and she said she'd look into it. We couldn't drive out there due to car problems. But at least it's getting checked.

That reminds me of when I was little and we were making paint handprints for our parents.
This teacher held my hand over the paper and she said it was good and she turned to talk to someone so I put my hand on the paper because she said it was good.
She then turned, grabbed my arm, jerked on me and said "You ruined it!!"
I think it'd be wrong to blame it all on that teacher, but to this day, I will ask people multiple times if I'm doing something right or making sure because I'm scared I'll do it wrong and get yelled at xD

When it comes to making stuff for parents or signing a card, they don't have to be perfect.
Whoever is getting them is going to love it.

And I hope they do figure out the issue.
Kids shouldn't be treated like that.

A world of fragile things
Look for me in the white forest
Hiding in a hollow tree (come find me)
I know you hear me,
I can taste it in your tears."

I remember in probably 4th grade, for a Mother's Day project in my school's daycare, we painted wooden shapes.
I'd wanted to paint 'I love you Mom' on a heart but by the time I got up there to pick my shape, all the hearts were gone. I had a circle, triangle and a square to choose from. Because it had the biggest space, I went with the square.
While I was painting a teacher stopped me to pull a Mr. Miagee routine, telling me I was painting my square sloppily and showed me how to paint it properly.
This particular teacher was nice about it and it's possible that I was being sloppy for a 4th grader due to being disgruntled that I didn't get a heart. Later, she said she was proud of me as I finished my project by her example.
So at the time, I didn't think anything of it.
In retrospect, it was still unnecessary and judgemental regardless of her kind approach. If my sloppy original paint job was what I was satisfied with no one had the right to tell me it was wrong.

Then there was 6th grade. I had to make a mini-booklet on lions including illustrations. I lost an entire letter grade because my illustrations were akin to stick figures. I can't fucking draw and tried to tell my teacher that I couldn't have done much better but she still accused me of not putting in a satisfactory effort.
She may have been right, I did kinda rush through the illustrations but it truly was within the range of my best work.
Are stick figures really such a bad thing when it's not an art assignment?!

Some people shouldn't be allowed to work with children.
I hope your family is/was able to sort this out and that this teacher will face consequences for her actions.

P.S My mom still has that square somewhere. If I knew where it was I'd include a picture.

Well it turned out to be a misunderstanding. With the teacher picking up the paper and my daughter pulling it back and it got torn up in the process. Sounds a bit fishy, but I'm going to let it go this time. If something like this happens again trust me I'm going to raise hell.

I concur that doesn't add up.
You said that your daughter was told that the teacher called her drawing scribbles and yet now you're being told that the teacher was accepting the drawing.
I don't like it but agree that it's passable this one time.

Yeah. It sounds fishy, but with it being a she said she said thing it's hard to argue.
