Gawd talk about depressing. My baby's growing up. lol Now she wants to take a shower instead of a bath because she's a big girl.

*pats* At least you'll still have her around for a while yet! And I think now's a good time to provide her with other forms of education that she won't get in a classroom. My family was pretty big on culture when I was growing up --I think we went out on a monthly basis (if not more). It was all fairs and museums and trying out new foods, going to new places.

Also grew up in a church environment, which I believe gave me a lot of moral structure? Books (I read all sorts of YA stuff and still do), helped me with that too. It gave me a lot of food for thought, and often times, family and I would hit the libraries and also read stories together.

Kids grow up fast, but I think it's great that you can be with them and guide them while they make their way in the world.

She's been having a great time at school Though she was out a few days because she got sick. But other than that she's doing good. At least I haven't gotten a letter or a phone call telling me otherwise.

It's hard to teach her other things. She doesn't seem interested and I don't wanna force her. She gets upset and really complainy when I try and force her and I don't think she's listening.

Boring. My head and jaw hurt. And it's 1:33 am and I'm tired. I can't wait to get paid from the city for being my mom's care provider. I want to get my daughter her Halloween costume. I'm also going to buy my brother and his family more groceries. See Friday we bought my brother and his family lots of groceries, but when I get paid we're buying them some more. They're struggling and with three kids they need the help. It's like seeing my brother, sister and I growing up all over again. I can't wait to surprise them because my brother's going to be like: You already helped us and I'm going to be like: we'll it's my money I can do whatever I want.

I'm no pro (I don't have kids or regularly take care of them), but I remember reading in a story about a little girl who had a hard time learning. Her brother went to the library and looked up different ways he could teach her to learn how to read. I also know that everyone has different learning styles --like how some people are visual learners, and some need to practice over and over, or they need to take notes in some way to learn. Since you're daughter's young, I've no idea how to apply it, but I'm sure there are resources out there. Maybe if you could make a game of it somehow, or set up a reward system that would motivate her? *shrugs*

^^ A black cat. She wanted to be a leopard, but I really don't want to spend $20 or more on a costume she'll only want to wear once. We have the ears and tail so all we need is the costume it's self. Or just find a long sleeved black top and black pants. Something like that.

That's a good idea. If she needs things repeated, you can have her try to repeat the stuff back to you as well. For folks who know how to read and write, it helps reinforce whatever we're learning, but I think vocalizing it works well too. I mean, that's how kids learn the alphabet.

Ah, cute! You can always tell her that she's a melanistic leopard. She can think of it as being an extra-special leopard, or a leopard in disguise. It'd be an imaginative twist to it, and you wouldn't have to spend extra cash.

Yeah. No Dora, we don't have cable. She watches our Scooby Doo dvds or tapes, Winnie the Pooh, VeggieTales, Care Bears, My Little Ponies (classic), Super Mario Bros., Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog...and others.

Yeah, she can write a little and read a little. So I'm sure I can work on something with her.

Ooh, I see. When my niece was young, she was really into Sophia the First (on Netflix). My brothers and I watched some of it with her, and she liked to sing and dance to the songs. It was cute.

Sure. I think an important part of the learning process is finding a way for the person learning to enjoy it. When you end up associating a subject with a negative experience, it can be more difficult for them to learn.
