Sounds like a distinct possibility with a tag like that.

I don't agree.

I've been mostly keeping up with my subscribed fics recently. Checked in on SG1, but there wasn't anything new there. You see anything good, or just vore and massive crossovers?

Is there ever anything new in SG1?

I haven't found much good in fanfiction land. Mostly garbage that just barely scratches whatever specific itch I have, and most of that is unfinished, abandoned garbage. I need to stop reading incomplete fics when I need a fast fix. It just leaves me feeling antsy.

This weekend I found a free visual novel and played it, and I was feeling so inspired I'm writing a short fanfic for it. Might even finish it.

I just ate something unidentified off of my laptop keyboard, and it didn't occur to me until afterward that this might have been a bad idea. Luckily it was parmesan cheese.

There used to be. Don't judge my optimistic habits.

You should just filter out anything incomplete so you aren't tempted. It's very easy. There's a check box.

Want me to find something for you? I have an AO3 account, you know. I'm an expert at finding things.

Post or it didn't happen.

Were you at home, or in your office? Are we talking potential cat litter or potential escaped lab material?

I know there's a check box for complete stories only, but I talk myself into leaving it unchecked every time. I keep thinking I'll find stories that have just enough written to be satisfying. I'm always wrong.

Uh, I'll pass on you finding things for me. Unless you already have some recommendations saved up, and they're well-written slow burn romance in fandoms I like that are between 30,000 and 70,000 words.

I'm almost done! But why would I post it for a fandom that only seems to have 12 people in it? There's no gratification there.

It was at the office, but it's not like anyone brings lab material in there. It would most likely be a plant product if it were anything unexpected.

So... check it. Hear yourself talking yourself out of it, but then hear myself talking you back into it. Put the check back in the box.

Well-written slow burn romance is almost exclusively what I subscribe to and read. Well, written. They're not uncommonly over 100k, I guess. But still. There's not a bad chance I have something if you give me a few fandoms.

Think of the twelve people out there, just longing for your fic. Any fic, really. Your fic could be that fic. They would love your fic so, so much.

Digitalis is a plant product. Ricin is a plant product. Have you heard of hemlock? Boxwood? Hoary alyssum?

I'm already haunted by your voice enough. I don't need any more of that.

See, I don't think I'm at a place in my life where I can be committing to a 200,000 word epic. Keep it slim and trim. Not really sure what fandoms I'm into right now?

I live for feedback, though. Did you ever get much feedback on your Demon Diary story? Because this fandom is smaller than that, if a bit fresher.

I know that plant products can be murder poison. I was just saying that it probably wasn't lab material. Although since I have no idea what all these plants my officemates keep on the windowsill are, maybe it's an even worse idea to be eating unidentified substances.

You could use some more if you're not checking that box.

I don't ask for feedback, and the Demon Diary fandom was already pretty dead. I think I got a favorite or two, though.

If they like snakes, they love ricin. Fact.

How do you not know what fandoms you're into?

The snake person isn't one of my officemates. My officemates are all bee people. Beople, if you prefer. Actually, one of them might be a real plant person? I think he has the weird desert plants.

Fandom preferences are tricky things. I like some fandoms all the time, but when I think about reading fics for them I'm like, "Mmm, rather not". You know? And right now I'm like, "Mmm, rather not" for pretty much everything, but I also want to read fanfic. ?!?

Although if there were more than 17 fics for that visual novel I might be into that.

Does he have chlorophyll? Is he a breathairian?

I have experienced that phenomenon. The answer is to read fanfic for a fandom you don't follow. I have used SG-Atlantis, Yuri! on Ice and Hamilton most recently for that purpose. Eventually I got tired of looking up what the characters look like and went back to Supernatural.

If you haven't read all 17 of them yet, I don't want to hear your complaints.

Yes. His green color was initially unsettling, but once you get past that it turns out plant people are really quite normal.

I've occasionally mined not-my-fandoms for fanfics, and I suppose that is effective. Sometimes I get angry if I develop an attachment to a pairing and later find out it's non-canon or non-popular though.

I had something else to tell you and now I've completely forgotten it. This is going to bother me.

Edit: Ah! I remembered. I discovered the single most beautiful species name in existence: Tinuviel eurydice. Leigh Van Valen wasted it on a nondescript, poorly known Paleocene condylarth when he was in his Tolkien naming phase.
I dare you to find a prettier species name.
