As a semi poor bitch, don't get to splurge on a lot.
I do try to donate here and sometimes will buy myself a treat.
It irks me how people waste money and food.

Ive seen rich people buy the stupidest things for high prices.
I see people say "I buy stuff because I can!"
Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.
I also see people say "You're just jealous you don't have money!"
Yeah, I'm so jealous that I can't buy a $500 fidget spinner.
No, it irks me because that money can go towards better things.
For $500 you can do much more useful things.

I've mentioned I'm a cheapass, so things like that irritate me.
I'm used to managing the little I get, so I don't like spending too much on most things.
I've also seen loved ones struggle with money and food and you have people buying fidget spinners for $500.

I saw some hope for humanity things on Pinterest.
One was this man:
"They call him Bagel Jesus. He takes the old bagels from work and distributes them to the hungry on the street. GGG right here!"
I've heard people say that older, but good food just gets tossed in the garbage.
That's so fucking wrong. There are people starving in this country.
People are starving in other countries too, but I don't know if day old rolls can make it there before the mold.
Either way, you don't just toss out good food.
My grandma worked somewhere, I think it was a small hospital, and she'd take home leftovers.
Well, they made her stop doing that, and just threw the food in the garbage.

And I know me donating to this site may be considered a waste to people.
Difference is it actually helps and I won't just lose interest after three days.
And I also can't donate a lot so >Bu

We all waste things, but we should try harder not to.
We should try harder to help others too.
Because we'd want help if it was us and not them.

How do you feel about wasted money and food?

while i think that money should be put to better use for helping others, i also don't see why people who earned their money shouldn't also enjoy it. i mean, my dad came here with nothing but a 20 dollar bill when he landed in america and now we've got three cars? we don't NEED all the things we have but my dad's always said we should look out for ourselves first and foremost.

i mean, it's completely different than someone buying 5000 buck caviar, but people are getting paid to catch those fish, package, serve it. so i dunno. i guess it really comes down to whether or not you believe more in right or left wing economic policy.

I'm a picky eater so as far as food goes, I spent a lot of my life
wasting food that I either refused to eat or couldn't.
I get full really quickly, too, and am picky about leftovers.
However! I've really started trying to be better about that for this reason.
I don't want to waste food knowing that other people don't get to eat.
When I can't finish meals in restaurants I often see if my friends want the rest.
So long as someone eats it!

As far as money, I kind of agree with being able to enjoy it.
I don't make a lot. My family is poor, too.
But we really try to support each other, so we loan money to each other when we need to.
I don't have a lot of wiggle room to donate, but I've done a little bit when I can!
To KofK and to big organizations - whenever I think I can assist even a little.
I don't make a lot so in a way, I feel like what I do make should be spent on what makes me happy.
Sometimes donating makes me happy. Other times splurging on $80 worth of video games makes me happy. <:
Of course, buying food for my friends or going to the movies with them makes me happy, too.
I'm a big supporter of the "treat yourself" idea, haha. If you have money and want to spend it on you, spend it.
Just be smart when it comes to bills and debt. That's when it gets tricky. :'(

It's not so much spending a lot of money, it's what you spend it on.
If you can buy $80 worth of games and get enjoyment out of games, it's not a waste.
If you can spend $5,000 on caviar and feed other people, it's not a waste.

I more or less meant spending a ton of money on silly things just because you can.
I've seen rich people buy several mansions and several cars and most of them don't even get used.
Why would you buy eight cars, drive two, and let the others just sit and rot?
Why not give the cars to other people or rent your other homes?
Why do you need so much that you don't use?
Instead of buying cars you won't use, why not donate to charity or buy a meal for people?

I'm a giving person and I love to make others happy.
      But I'm also a sap and a cheapass, so xD;

Fran: I am picky and have done that too. I've also been working on it.
      :3
I've seen people that won the lottery, quit their jobs and splurged.
You don't quit your job. And you don't tell people you got money >>

      Oh, true! That makes sense.
Yeah some people amaze me with how they use their money in that sense.

I work in a casino, so I definitely see a wide variety of how people use their money.

I agree. It's not a waste to spend money on something if you'll make a use of it. Even if you spend a lot. Though it's a bit of a waste if you could get it cheaper with the same quality... But only a little bit.

But I'll call it also a waste if you buy something and can't use it too much only because you haven't taken care of it properly. I'm sick of the people around me who behave like that, even with electronics. They put it on the edge of the table all the time, or leave it on bed or chair and then sit on it, because they forgot they left it there... Or they are in hurry, don't pay attention what they are doing and end up tossing a bag with it somewhere. And then "Oh, it's not working" or "it's scratched everywhere, I need another one".

Of course, accidents happen. But it's only an accident if it happens sometimes, not all the time.

I want to practise my English. If you see any mistakes, please send me a pm.

Why do some people use such a small font size? It hurts my eyes... :mcdead:

Why would they have your aunt throw the leftovers away instead of her taking the leftovers home? Also, did she pay for them?

It's a touchy topic. Whilst I do agree that there are people who are wasteful with there money where others are less fortunate, they have worked hard for their money and can use it for whichever means they see fit. Even if this means buying several cars and mansions and having it barely occupied/used. It's the money they earned. I don't think other people have a say in how they use it though of course you're free to wrinkle your nose but don't make them feel bad for not donating or being more altruistic. Maybe they do donate a portion of their money to charitable means or even their time outside of their silly spending ventures.

There used to be stores that sold their leftover products for really cheap like containers of takeaway meals for $2-3 at the end of the day. What happened was though, sales during the day went down drastically and people just piled in at closing time for $2-3 meals. So they scratched that. Supermarkets are reputable for being wasteful. It's absolutely disgusting but what can you do about it? My dad used to do delivery for supermarket chains and they'll throw out egg dozens with one cracked egg or a bit of dirt on one egg in the carton. We were poor back then so dad used to just fish out the still good stuff from the chain supermarket bins and bring them home xD It was mostly a lot of eggs and like cabbage. Other random toiletries and such. Tictacs? It was a collection of odd things. That was back when I was 7?
