it's 57 jaffa st. they used to be right at the corner with even israel but now they're renovating so you have to go somewhat deeper along even israel st. and just a few years ago they had an immense collection in yiddish. it was like half of the first floor! last year I forgot where they were and didn't get there, and this year they told me they had to cut it because no one is interested in yiddish :(
and I didn't ask if they still had those books listed online. and I also didn't ask where they'd sent all of them.
I am posting this in Jerusalem, but it's getting late on a Friday so I'll probably try and get in either Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday.
But soon! I'm still planning on it!

Heard from some of the contacts we were trying to meet, our schedules got completely rearranged, won't get a chance at Danny Books until much later in the week.

Still planning on going though!

I've started reading The Woods by Harlan Coben, I thoroughly enjoyed The Five which was a tv series he wrote and so far the book has been hard to put down, I'm trying not to skip to the end!

So I got to Danny's Books!

Parked somewhere wrong on the way and ended up with a ticket, though. Ouch!

They were in the middle of construction on the main area and had moved some 15 meters down the side street for the duration, and I don't know if it was because of that or not but they were down to less than a single shelf of Yiddish books and both people there at the time disavowed all knowledge of more. So that was sad.
But I loved the store, and picked up a couple BEAUTIFUL art books (in French), as well as an English novel to tide me over and two of the Yiddish books; one a collection of songs and poems and the other was a mystery. ("We're leaving! Hurry up!" "Okay, let me just grab one more..." "NO, we're going NOW" "Fine!")
So that's in the bag and I'm about to go unpack and see what it actually is that I just bought...

I think the mystery Yiddish book is a memoir? Some sort of non-fiction, vaguely biographical thing, anyhow. As far as I can make out. My yiddish is actually pretty rudimentary.

"The Shack", by William P. Young. It's an older book, I borrowed from the library.

So I just finished three omnibus editions of the Liaden Universe novels/stories, and am wondering if I should look up the rest or not.
On the one hand, I really really loved the first book I read (Agent of Change). On the other hand, reading everything so close together, I'm seeing signs of some Superhero issues.
(Um, that's slang among my family, who discuss books a lot, for protagonists who start out normal or close to normal and gradually, usually over a series, the conflicts attempt to escalate each book which means the protagonist has to overcome these escalating conflicts somehow and keeps becoming more and more until they're more or less superheroes instead of ordinary or close-to-ordinary people. Agent of Change of course had a lot of issues with that even within the one book, but Miri wasn't as subject to that (revealed: lost heir! issues, but not Superhero issues) but that didn't last either.)
On the other hand, the writing is good fun, and the world building is not shoved down the reader's throat too badly, so I might keep going anyhow.

So long as one is enjoying a book, right?

(But it is bothering me more and more. So maybe give it a rest for a bit so I don't get so fed up I stop enjoying it. Wouldn't want to ruin a perfectly good series through overexposure too early)
