Welcome Asta!
Yeah, I can definitely understand where you're coming from. That being said, I don't think it's quite fair to equate Mike Pence with Tim Kaine.
That's probably not where you thought I was going. Okay, let me explain.
So Tim Kaine (Democratic VP) seems like a normal, nice enough, sweater kind of guy. He reminds me of Mr Rogers crossed with a 9th grade math teacher. He's been a mayor and governor and the chairman of the DNC, so he has governing experience and political relationships. He was governor during the Virginia Tech shooting and his most controversial policies involve carrying out the death penalty--which I personally don't agree with but nevertheless was the law in his state at the time. That's all I know about Tim Kaine right now.
Mike Pence, on the other hand....
Mike Pence started off as a radio call-in show shock jock, then became a congressman and governor. He has said he believes in "gay conversion therapy" which has been debunked by science, disavowed by psychiatry, and condemned by numerous human rights groups. He says that gay people are responsible for the spread of HIV, which still doesn't explain why he STILL hasn't approved the emergency relief funds for the part of his state that is currently dealing with a full on AIDS epidemic (
http://www.npr.org/2016/03/31/472577254 ... diana-town) nevermind that the outbreak started over a year ago. He has said, in Congress, that same sex marriage will bring about the destruction of society. He's said that condoms don't stop STDs, and if anyone doesn't understand why that's a big deal MAY I REMIND YOU ABOUT THE OVER 200 PEOPLE WHO HAVE CONTRACTED AIDS IN INDIANA IN GOD DAMN 2016. (Admittedly, it seems that most people have gotten the disease from sharing needles--but Pence also doesn't support clean needle exchanges) He signed into law an anti-abortion bill that was so extreme it required miscarriages to be cremated or buried in a state-approved way and reported to the state government. Not only is that a gross violation of privacy and a huge government overreach, it doesn't make any sense and shows a basic lack of understand of female anatomy. That's right. The law criminalized menstruation. The way the law was worded, women in Indiana were technically required to have a funeral for the egg they dispelled during their period and then report that to the government.
Now, of course Pence didn't mean that. And I don't think he appreciated the #PeriodsforPence movement it started, but that's kinda the point. Pence passes laws that he doesn't understand even a tiny bit.
AND THEN THIS MORNING I read that Pence is trying to suppress the black vote in his state. Pathetic.
So not only is he a creep, he's a gay bashing, woman hating racism-exploiting creep. Tim Kaine is more smarmy than creepy.
