I have a colorful turtle on my right shoulder blade. My only regret is that it's somewhere I can't see without using a mirror. Yes, I want more. Money is the issue for me.

I don't have a strong opinion either way for myself but if I did get a tattoo I would have to think about it for a while because it's permanent.

I've always wanted -or at least I thought I wanted- to have tattoos. I still love them and I loved designing them but I do not need to have them. :}

I've always liked tattoos.
My school would teach us it's a sin to have tattoos and piercings because you're defacing your body that is supposed to be a temple for God.

I would like one, but I don't know of what still.

A world of fragile things
Look for me in the white forest
Hiding in a hollow tree (come find me)
I know you hear me,
I can taste it in your tears."

Your school sounds very classically Catholic o_o
I read some quote that was like.. actually, fuck it, I'll mess it up.
It's sappy and I think originated on tumblr but that doesn't matter, it's great:
"Listen to me, your body is not a temple. Temples can be destroyed and desecrated. Your body is a forest — thick canopies of maple trees and sweet scented wildflowers sprouting in the underwood. You will grow back, over and over, no matter how badly you are devastated."

Your school really does sound very old fashioned. My old school had teachers like that, we also had a teacher with a sleeve, so...

AutobotDen wrote:I have two tattoos. Both of them I got at significant points in my life. The first one, I got just shy of my 21st birthday back in 2007 (as in a few weeks later, I turned 21), after I had been living away from my parents for the first time. I marked my final "coming of age" with it.

The second one, which I got earlier this year, I got after I wrote 60,000 word of novel in NaNoWriMo in 2012, securing my second consecutive win and crossing a personal milestone for myself.

I'm currently paying an artist friend of mine to design one of my upcoming tattoos, which I'm getting to signify one year of living in the city I live in, having moved out of my hometown for good back in 2012. This will be a Transformers character that I really admire, done in the style of a pinup girl from the 1950s.

The next tattoo I'm getting after that is one of my own design, and it's based on both the Autobot insignia, and a calavera. This one will signify the new job I got back in July, which I've been doing quite well at and that I really enjoy.

Eventually, I will be getting a runic compass on my shoulder, and possibly a few other runic tattoos, depending on how things go.

I also have plans for many more Transformers-themed tattoos, since the series has been such a big part of my life ever since I was 3 years old.

My parents do not approve of me having my tattoos, but they have, at least, chosen not to comment, as I save up my money for my ink. I love tattoos, because they're an expression of a personality, a heritage, and of living artwork.
as an update, I've gotten my pinup. I still need to get it colored in sometime, but that'll happen eventually. I also have added a blue lotus flower to my "collection". It's on my back right shoulder. I drew the artwork for it myself, and it's one of my favorites now. :)

I have loved tattoos, and many other varieties of body modification, since I was little. That being said, I have not permanently modified my own body. I only have the pierced ears my mom gave me as a baby. I'm an all or nothing kind of person. I always knew that if I got into modifying myself, I'd probably end up unrecognizable. At first I was just waiting for 18. Then, I was just waiting for the perfect tattoo to come my way. Something that would speak to me across the ages. I never found that tattoo. I don't think I'd get it now if I could. I've enjoyed watching my body age. I realized that any part I modified would never be the same again. Now, I prefer temporary modifications. There are tons on the market!

I really hate tattoos that have no decent meaning behind them. I can definitely appreciate one that screams out feelings though.
