Raven looked away. "They would probably be older too." She said. She looked at Kyle. She was glad to be here. At least Kyle respectdd her enough to actually let her have her own choices. She looked over at the clock on her night stand. Then back at Kyle. "I ... right. I didnt have book I wanted to borrow." She said. It was nice to be off the other topic.

Still, she had shared a bed with Kyle. She turned around and headed for the door. "Let's go." She said. The biggest reason she had started walked had been because she was blushing. She didn't want Kyle to see that. It was embarrassing. Really, how should she face him again? Jesus, she should have stopped him. She'd rather nod know this one.

It seemed Helena was just as eager to change the topic of discussion as he was, and he wasn't sure what to think about their relationship from here on out. Before, he'd been trying to get them closer, but now he wondered if he should let it go slower, maybe he'd been pushing it to much. He wasn't in a particular hurry, it was just hard to decide what to do. He could simply try and get along better with her, but he wasn't sure how to do that. Maybe try and be her friend? Honestly, Kyle wasn't very good at making friends. He had colleagues and the like, but he wasn't sure he had a lot of people he could call friends. Other then maybe Harold and some of the other servants, but that was a bit of an odd relationship as well, since many of them were more family then friends, having either lived with him since he was young, or in Harold's case, raised him.

Kyle followed Helena down the stairs, they would run into Harold on the way to the study, so Kyle greeted him as they turned the corner. Harold wasn't surprised, but Kyle remembered that Helena was uncomfortable with him doing things like that. He sighed, rubbing his temples. "Sorry, forgot again." Harold smiled. It wasn't uncommon for Kyle to discuss or decide something like this, and then to forget later. He was considered rather absent-minded, but when he was thinking about something he tended to focus rather hard on that. "I take it everything is alright then M'lord." Kyle nodded. "Helena is fine now." Kyle paused, then added, "We talked. We're going to get her the book she was looking for earlier." There was a bit of a pause, then Harold nodded. "Dinner will be ready in a few hours, as per the usual." Kyle nodded in response. "Shall we then?" He asked, motioning in the direction of the study, looking down at Helena.

Helena looked up as she heard Kyle greet Harold. She hadn't noticed him. Kyle had probably sensed him and had just, like usual, been a few steps ahead of her. She had wanted to frown at it, but then Kyle apologized and she just shrugged it off. It had been how he had been living his life up till this point, she couldn't really expect it all to change just because he had spent a year with her. besides it wasn't really her problem that he sensed people...

She listened half to the conversation and when it ended she nodded and then they both headed for the study. Once they were in there she bit her lower lip. "I don't mind it, you know?" She said and looked at him. "That you sense people around you, I mean." She knew he was used to doing so. "I just ..." She sighed. "I hate being watched all the time, okay?" She said and looked at her hands. "And, I can't really do anything without you knowing, I know that, but ..." She clenched her hands into fist. "The least you can do is come yourself, instead of sending Harold." She said and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Hm?" Kyle asked, as they entered and Helena began speaking again. She then explained. "Ah, yes." He rubbed his neck awkwardly. "I- um- well- you didn't exactly like me before, so I thought it best to avoid interacting with you as much as possible. You tended to run away when I approached." He said, before running his hand through his hair. "I... can't always tell what you're doing, just where you are. It's more of a positioning thing. I only know what you're doing based on extrapolation, like when you came in here." He motioned around the room. "I knew you needed help getting a book because of the way I arrange the self. All the books at your height are more... well, they didn't seem the type you'd want to read, since they're mostly reference books."

"I'm sorry I can't turn it off, I've tried before but..." Kyle looked over at the shelf she had been near before. He didn't know what book she wanted, so he'd need to ask. Though, before that... "I promise if I notice you need something, I'll come myself next time." Kyle smiled, though a bit awkwardly. "If you like, I can wait till you ask for help?" He suggested, "That might make things less... uncomfortable?" Kyle chuckled suddenly. "I can't promise I can remember not to, but I'll do my best." His forgetfulness would likely get the better of him, but it was likely he might remember part way through heading somewhere, and he didn't particularly mind just walking back. Well, at least this conversation was a sign their relationship was getting better, since not only was she trying to understand his power, she was actually requesting that he act on it himself.

Helena bit her lower lip. "Well, maybe waiting would be better." She said. She still felt half like saying he should just come if she had been caught anyway, but she let it go. She looked at the shelves. "You don't have to apologize for your powers." She said and looked at him. "I know powers isn't the easiest thing to control." She had barely any control herself.

She played a little with her hair. Then walked over to the self and pointed at the book she had been interested in. "I wanted this one." She said and looked over at Kyle. She didn't know what the book was about, but the title had sounded interesting.

Kyle nodded, in his case, it had taken him more years then she'd been alive to perfect his control, and even then he still slipped when his emotions got to high. He'd actually spent many more years attempting to control his ability to sense others as well, but he had eventually realized that no matter how hard he tried, he wouldn't be able to remove their presence from his mind. Eventually he had given up, and returned any study he did to his mind reading. It seemed that sensing people was more a side-effect that part of his actual power, thus why he couldn't get rid of it. He might be able to block their thoughts, but not their mind.

Turning to the shelf again he looked up at the book she was pointing at, he paused for a moment. The Beginning of the End. Not that he would deny it was interesting, but it wasn't quite what it implied. It was actually a book about parasitic species and how they take over other creatures. The first signs, etc. It was more about the lives of parasites and the creatures they inhabit, and it was written to be more entertaining then a standard reference book. In fact, it actually lacked scientific facts in most cases, simply choosing to describe things from a more literary point of view. There was another book that went with it, Scientific Facts about Parasites: An Accompaniment to The Beginning of the End, but he kept that on the lower shelves for obvious reasons. He pulled the book from the shelf and looked at if for a moment. "You might want to read the description before you get into it, the title can be a bit misleading." Kyle said as he handed it to Helena. "Let me know if you want me to grab something else."

Helena accepted the book and looked up at Kyle. Then she turned it around and started reading the back. After a little while she frowned and looked up at Kyle. "You have some weird books." She said and handed it back to Kyle. She wasn't that interested in the facts. Instead she preferred reading fiction. She liked reading about quests and adventures.

"So, do you have a recommendation?" She aaked. She looked at the selves. She wasnt sure what was what, and honestly, she had to admit that it was easier to simple ask Kyle, who probably knew all the books, which boom was the best.

Kyle chuckled and took back the book, placing it on the shelf once again. He couldn't really argue with that, he did have quite a selection, many of them relating to his work with plants and the like. He looked over the books on the higher shelves, which moved from things related to his work to history and then fiction. There was a section between them that involved books that were both, but honestly he wasn't sure what she would like to read.

"What type of books do you like?" He asked, "I've been gathering this library for a while so I have many kinds." Kyle chuckled again. "You don't want books about facts, so I guess history is out of the question... but maybe you'd like some fiction based on history?" Glancing over the books again he pondered this. "Then there are several types of fiction, magic and fantasy, gritty realism, romance..." He looked over to the other side of the room and the other books he had. "Books about life, or grand quests? Accidental adventure or a known but grand purpose..." At this point Kyle was just rambling, thinking over the types he had.

Helena thought about what he should get, since she was only thinking of asking for one book. She didn't want to seem like she was all too interested in hi things, but at the same time she was interested in more of the options he had given her. She bit her lower lip and then looked at the books.

"Um, I guess I want a book about adventures?" She asked She felt a little like she was in a book store, trying to buy a book, but she didn't mention it for Kyle. She didn't think it was too weird, but at the same time ...

Kyle nodded, skimming over the shelves when his eye caught a serious of blood red books with gold writing over on the other side of the room, on the top shelf in the back. After a few moments he smiled to himself. Kyle headed back in that direction, pulling out the first book. Tales of the Blood-Soaked Maiden: Book 1 - The Sun-Baked Dunes. He nodded to himself again and turned back to Helena, walking over and handing the book to her. He wasn't sure if she'd like it, or even want to read it, but now that he'd thought of it he couldn't resist. "Do be careful with it, it's a first edition." Not that he didn't have more then one copy, but that didn't mean one should be negligent. "It's sturdy though, so don't worry to much." He didn't want to scare her into not actually taking the book.

"It's about a vampire raised in the desert, and the adventures she has. It's one of the few books where being a vampire is portrayed as a potentially bad thing. Many of the problems she faces are solved with wit instead of strength, though she learns how to use her powers to her advantage." There was an awkward pause, but he choose not to explain what the power was, that might tip his hand. "It's a series, so let me know if you end up wanting the second one, if you read it." Now to see if she did. Hopefully if she did she wouldn't noticed the author, but then again it was written as K. L. Hiblyd not Kyle Lundgrim Hiblyd, so maybe she wouldn't notice he was the author. Did she even know his whole name? That might help. It was a bit awkward having people he knew read it, especially since he wrote it so long ago. He'd written it when he was a little older then her and struggling with his powers. The heroine of the book had the same power he did, and it had helped him to write about his struggles through the form of another.

The heroine was also nothing like him, dark skinned with blonde hair and the standard red eyes. Her personality was a bit similar to how he'd been when he was younger, strong-willed and always ready to speak her mind, but he kept that part of himself hidden as time passed. It was actually Harold who had first suggested they publish the book, and once they had it became a hit among both vampires and humans, though most upper-class vampires avoided the tale. At least in public. He'd caught his brother reading it at lunch once, to anger his parents. Originally he'd only continued to give himself a break from the world he lived in, and to live through another person, but eventually he had grown to enjoy writing it. He still did, but since both humans and vampires read it he had always made sure each book could be read as the last, and never left plot hangers. The last thousand years he'd slipped a bit, so there were only about fifty-two books in the series, but he'd been spending more time working on the next book over the last year.
