So far I've only completed the first ark in my original save, and I think it has a good story, though I haven't gone further than that. So I think the others would have to say their opinions before going by mine. :mcheh:

Well, I have found the story of the game quite entertaining. Not only are there the three main story arc's, but there are also the town story events that happen during the game as you build up relationships.

Though I did find that the ending to the third arc was a little lacking, I am still having a lot of fun with the game.

@deily

I'm of a differing opinion, actually. :U Remember that the original Rune Factory was marketed as a "fantasy Harvest Moon." Compared to other JRPGs, I don't consider the RF games very story-oriented at all (hence, I usually get lazy to finish them LOL). Compared to past installments, though, I do find RF4's story to be more...there. >_> As in, it's evident from the start. Same with RF3, actually. RF1 and 2 had you flailing around with no real story until some time in.

Rune Factory is really more about building your farm, house, dungeon exploring, getting married, etc, etc, in my opinion, though it's still far more story-oriented than its origins in Harvest Moon. If you're into twisty and complex stories, I feel you'll be disappointed in RF4's pretty straightforward storytelling, though I'm not really one to talk, as I'm only half-finished. :/

Keep at it, you will get there. It took me three tries over three years to finish Rune Factory 2.

Haha, everyone I know agrees RF2 was the most boring installment, though, so I think it's pretty justified. XD It's more on my personal laziness than anything. I think I've restarted RF1, like, 5 times by now. Mostly because I forget what I'm doing and it really irks me--

A friend of mine, on the other hand, has hours and hours loaded onto every one of the first 3 installments. OTL Total completion, multiple playthroughs for all marriages, and at one point she was on the top list worldwide for RF3 >_> If only I had that dedication!

O.O
That .... That is kind of amazing, in a sorta scary kind of way.

@Pup
Wait, what!? I had started a new save because I thought I couldn't do that! *facepalm* Well, I kind of like how this save is going better anyways. I haven't gotten Dylas yet and I already have like 8k princess points and 40k+ gold. .-.

@Dragon Yeah O_O I remember back when we were kids I was amazed by her RF1 file because she had leveled so high that her RP never depleted no matter what she did...

Wha--?? Dang, I was worried about trying not to flatter everyone to get Leon for nothing...They won't get mad at you if they find out you're dating everyone? XD I'm under the impression that there's a system like that for Harvest Moon.

Nope, I have even had two dates with two guys on the same day. Oh, and if someone proposes to you, turning them down will not end the relationship, you will still be dating them.

I know that earlier I said that I would marry Author, but after I started dating all the potential husbands I have began to question if I should. They are all so nice.

lol, I'd have them all really high, close to the point of proposing and then give them engagement rings and see how they all turn out as husbands. XD
