Really? I thought the area was the area with the Hunted Mansion? I may be wrong. After you cross the bridge in to the area, go down to screens. I thinks that is were the Affection Gate shows up.

Oh, okay. That's were a Love Gate can be found. Just checked. Love Crystal's are a rare drop so it can take time to get one.

Oh, that's a coincidence. I just got back into RF4 >_> I'm in Autumn, in the middlish beginning of the 2nd arc, but I'm rushing to finish it just like I did the 1st arc (for Leon and Dylas) because Doug being stuck at love level 3 is really ticking off my inner OC--

Anyway I'm usually a lazy bum and I've actually never finished an RF game, but if ever I do get far, I plan on marrying Leon because...he's Leon.

I've been wondering about getting this game myself actually, I'm glad to see people seem to enjoy it and are willing to talk about it. Odd question, how story-focused is it? I really like strong story over the more explore/grind based games.
