I agree with Nefarious Rainbows on both the looking good part and the why-does-the-straw-disappear part.
Maybe you could keep the straw?

Definitely. If it disappears, it will not count as a change. O would also making it "evolve" to make it part of the evolutions and not just an additional equipment. I'm also hoping to see some fur colour changes.

@hypocube- random idea, but you could lower the ears in stage one so that they look like they're perking up in stage two.
Also, wondering where to improve this knuffel here....

@Hypocube: i agree about the straw. either keep it or not at all, it cannot disappear. evolve it maybe? hmmm
how about changing it into a pipe?

looks pretty interesting, but has very little changes between stages. the most problematic are 1-2 and 3-4.
how about making her hair grow a little in every stage, not just once? maybe adding a little shine to it at some stage will be nice. and i don't think removing the fringe will pass as evolution.
about the clothes: maybe add some pattern to the dress (or part of the dress) at some point and ten evolve it in the next stage? it's egyptian themed, so maybe an ankh, or anubis or scarabeo?
also, egyptians used body painting! you can think of some black tattoo-look-alikes on her arms, that are not covered, or legs before they get covered. spiral arm bracelets to match the sandals are also an option

good luck!

And please don't forget about proportions! It is off-center and too small at the top.

So I have one question about these (click the images for links to all five stages)- are they okay? if not, what would you do to improve them?

Thanks so much for all your help guys <3 Especially Wicth77 for the pipe idea. I was having trouble coming up with something that matched thematically with the final stage. Here's the updated lineart. I also tried out the lowered ears idea. Thoughts?

@Hypocube: thanks, i'm glad i helped :). i'm not sure just changing the straw to stick and then to pipe will count as evolution, bus since it's just 1 detail, it should be okay.
it will be a wonderful knuffel, i'm looking forward to adopting him :)

@mishamonkey: still too little changes between stages to my taste (i mean big ones, there are enough small).
Flameyswirl - the most problematic are 2-3 and 4-5, with the first having no big changes and the second only 1 (the yellow tail). i'd suggest
- evolving the wings more and through every stage (for example making the second row of feathers smaller at first and then growing in next stage)
- adding the tail earlier and evolving it too, with 2 rows of feathers like the wings
- making some change to hair in 3rd stage, a significant one

Gypsyelf is more or less fine i think, Firn would have to decide on it. i'd change the 1st stage breast strap to white, to match the shirt she's having in the second stage

Egyptian i already commented on, it didn't change that much since then

@ Hypocube - lowering the ears and not resizing the whole thing would make it too small. It should fit the blue square exactly.

I think it would only be possible to use the lowered ears if you resize Stage 1 to fit the blue box. But doing that would cause stages 2-5 to exceed the boundary.
Your stage one should be exact with the blue box like photo#2's height.

Also, I don't think it's ... wise (?) to change the straw into a pipe. If you wanted a pipe, it would be best to have a pipe at first and keep it as a pipe. Possibly adding more decorations to the pipe as it evolves.
