Usually these events are manually disabled, so often the event ends a few hours later.
It's not safe to rely on that to get extra items, but that's what usually happens.

The Summer Event 2013 is over now!

The Summer Booth will stay open for a few more days so you can spend your remaining goldfish, but no more new goldfish can be earned now.
