Kyle could tell Helena was having negative thoughts, some more intense then others, but none clear enough to actually understand. After Helena hurried over to him and his mother glared, spewing a few thoughts about 'shameless hussies' which warrented it's own glare from Kyle, they started heading toward the garden after his mother. Almost immediately Kyle caught a small part of a larger thought from Helena. 'Hell spawn satan.' It was literally all he could do to not crack up laughing. He was quite convinced he had never heard a more accurate description.
Attempting and mostly succeeding to hide his amused smile behind a cocky smirk, his amusement was dampened when his mother began her questioning. Helena was visibly uncomfortable about that, something his mother seemed to pick up on. He would have to come up with a reason, and quickly, before she decided to start acting on those less then amiable thoughts. However, Helena managed to provide just the distraction, using that moment to grab onto his arm in a rather intimate fashion. The glare his mother shot was deadly, and once again some rather uncalled for names began streaming through her head.
Kyle felt what was almost like a tug from Helena's mind, and when he looked down at her she was staring up at him almost pleadingly, and from these things it was like she was asking who's side he was on. Smiling at her, and taking her hand in his, he quickly squeezed it reasuringly before looking back at him mother. This action had annoyed her greatly, but before she could speak he began answering her original question. "Helena has been a bit under the weather this past week, tonight was especially bad. She was fine until after dinner, but by then I had already sent the staff away since I would be at the meeting." He seemed amused, as without being specific his mother could find no issue with his statements, but could not ask without seeming rude. "I couldn't just leave her alone in this big house, especially with the servants gone. I had to stay with her, to make sure she would be alright." His mother started to speak but he continued before she could get started. "She's feeling better this morning, and I thought the fresh air would do her some good." He smiled, vaguely triumpantly at his mother before turning to Helena with a real smile. "Right Helena? I really am glad you're feeling better." Considering what had really happened, and the tone in his voice, it was obvious he really meant that statement. The look in his eyes alone said that.
