I have no idea what exactly you want with that dot, but I use a way different program than you probably do so it doesn't even work for me, I've got my own ways. There are smart guides, yes, but they don't work that way. I don't use layers, I use objects. I use boxes to see if everything's in place but I'm either too lazy or I hit a button one time too much so things end up like this. But unless you view them stage after stage it's no biggie.
I'll just enter it like this.
My screen is just dirty as crap since my bird keeps taking a dump on it and things like that, so most dots aren't on the file itself. Guess this one was. :')

The dot would be used to help place the hair in the proper location so that it doesn't look like its moving. And layers are very nifty, if you screw something up with the image/design it will only affect that layer and not the rest of the image. XD
