Raven looked at the book in her hand. It was old. She read the name of it and then looked back at Kyle. "I have already read this one." She said and handed it back. It had been one of her favourite when she had been little. Her dad had been collecring them for a long time. He didn't own the first edition, which had been why she hadn't noticed that she knew it.

"I think I read until book nineteen." She said. She knew it was a very long series, but she had nothing else to do after being locked away. She gave the book back. "It is a very nice story. I liked it." She said and smiled. She didn't know that Kyle was the author, but she had liked the series. It reminded her a little bit about herself, and her own struggles. She also envied the main character, since her power, even though a curse to her, still had seemed more of a blessing than her own. She had really been hating her ability. "Do yku have book twenty?" She might as well continue, if Kyle recommended it.

((Assuming you were saying she still doesn't know Kyle is the author? Since he didn't say anything, and neither did she. It will be amusing when she finds out.))

Kyle was a bit surprised when she said she'd already read it, but it was a good surprise. He took the book back with a smile. "Really? I've got the whole series, if you're interested! Let me get book twenty." He went back to the shelf and put the first book back before grabbing book twenty, The Underground Temple, and returning with it. This had the same blood red cover and gold writing, all the first editions of The Blood-Soaked Maiden he had did. He looked rather happy, knowing she enjoyed the book. He always felt embarrassed when he knew other people were reading his book, but hearing how people liked it always made him rather happy. Honestly, he was more surprised that people didn't realize he was the author. The last name he could understand, his family was large, but the main character has his ability to read minds! Most people who actually knew him had some idea he could that.

Kyle patted the cover fondly and handed Helena the book. "This series is on the top shelf, so let me know when you need the next one." He said smiling widely. "Let me know what you think." There was a pause as he looked at her for a moment. Suddenly he felt like writing again, but he didn't want to be rude, or expose himself as the author just yet. Honestly, unless asked directly he never admitted it. "So, where would you like to read? I've got a few chairs scattered around the room, if you like. Or you can go where-ever." Kyle asked, glancing around for his notes. It seems he had left some of them under a few books, but the actual story was in a locked drawer in his desk. He had the key on top of the bookshelf, right above where he kept the series. It was likely he looked distracted, as he kept glancing here and there while talking to Helena. In the end, he even started mouthing words to himself, and became obviously lost in thought.

((She doesn't know who the author is, since she doesn't remember Kyle's last name. She didn't bother to remember it.))

She looked at the book she had in her hands and smiled. She had often wondered about how the story was going to continue, but she didn't think Kyle would have it, but then again, she hadn't really been reading anything, since she hadn't been allowed to take her own books with her, when she was moved. She looked up at Kyle and tilted her head, seeing him being distracted. Maybe she should just leave.

"I'll, I'll just go to my room and read." She said and nodded his head she looked away and then she headed out. She could hear him muttering something under his breath, but she didn't really bother listening to it, since most of the things Kyle muttered didn't make much sense.

She hurried into her room and then sat onto the bed and opened te book and started reading.

"Oh? Yes good. Let me know if you need something." Kyle said absent-mindedly, moving books around his desk to retrieve the notes he had scattered around. He set the pages in a pile and skimmed through them to make sure they were all there. Discovering he was missing a few he began looking through the paper he'd shoved in the books lying around the study, finally managing to find the last few pages. After setting the pile down he reached up above the bookshelf, finding the key and opening the bottom drawer in his desk. He pulled out the stack and sat down at the desk, reading over the last page he had written, remembering where he'd been.

Once he got back on track for the part of the story he was at he started writing again. His new book was about a hidden temple, and he'd been trying to decide what the protagonist was going to find in the temple, the priest or priestess specifically. That is what had gotten him stuck that time, he couldn't decide the character or why they would be part of the temple. It was going to be a rescue mission, but he had needed to decide why the temple had taken and/or hidden the priest/priestess and the reason they were useful to them. Now, however, he had the perfect idea. A priestess, a prophet. Now he just needed to made a few edits here and there, add information about the temple, and decide appearances. Guess it was time for the blood-soaked woman to finally gain a companion.

Helena spent the day reading in her room. She didn't even notice the day go by, and was only interrupted, when there was a knock on the door and she looked up. She walked over to open the door, only to see Harold out there, telling her that dinner was ready, and she should come down. She nodded and followed with the butler to the dinning room.

She didn't often join dinner, but she guessed it was good, once in a while to be participating in this event. Besides, she did seem to be starting to get on a good foot with Kyle. He didn't seem to be too distant today, so she wouldn't feel too weird dining with him. That was part of the reason she never was at dinner. She never new what to say to Kyle, so she hid away. He never seemed approachable.

Kyle was so distracted with his writing he didn't noticed the chiming of the clock, which normally would have alerted him to dinner. This wasn't uncommon for him, as he was often distracted by his work. He was still writing the introduction for the new character, and the meeting between him and the heroine. While he had originally wanted to make the priest female, he had decided that his excitement had gotten better of him, and ultimately making the character male suited the story better. Besides, making the character to similar to anyone in particular wasn't the best idea, and since the character already resembled Helena at least in their pale skin and hair, having them be male added an extra hint of difference.

Harold lead Helena into the dining room, pulling out her chair for her. Glancing at the empty table he looked back at Helena. "Excuse me M'lady." He said, "Dinner will be served momentarily." As he spoke, a servant was already setting the plates up for food. Harold left after that, heading to the study. Once he arrived he opened the door and looked at the obviously distracted Kyle. "M'lord." Kyle jumped, looking up. "Yes?" He asked, glancing at the clock. "Oh, dinner. Right." Harold nodded. "M'lady has already arrived." Kyle looked down at his desk, a bit surprised at that, before jumping out of his chair. "Well, wouldn't want to keep her waiting." He said, quickly heading into the dining room as well, Harold following behind. "Sorry!" Kyle said as he entered the room, looking over at Helena. "I was a bit distracted."

Helena played nervously with the silverware while she was waiting. It was a little weird sitting here alone and waiting for something to happen. She was used to things happening faster. She was about to start pacing around, but she restrained herself from such behaviour. It was not suitable for a lady to act so restlessly. Still, though ... she looked at the door. Where was Kyle? He usually waw here whenever she arrived. He never seemed late. She bit her lower lip. Maybe it had been a bad idea to come here after all. Maybe he would be too distracted, just like he had been earlier to talk with her and it would just be awkward again.

She rested her head on her knee, until she heard the door open and straightened up. She turned to look at Kyle as he approached. She simply waved him off and shook her head. "We all get distracted once in a while, you know." She said and turned and awaited for the food to arrive, while at the same time trying to figure out what to talk about.

Kyle pulled his chair out and sat down as Harold left to enter the kitchen. Right afterword the food was brought out and served to them. Kyle smiled. "Smells delicious." He said, picking up his silverware to prepare to eat. "So," he asked, looking up at Helena, "how do you like the book so far?" After a few seconds of chewing he looked like he realized something. "Unless you haven't read far enough to have an opinion yet, or something." He added after swallowing his food quickly. Kyle himself was quite a fast reader, but not everyone had that skill. Since he didn't know how quickly Helena read, it was hard to tell how far she'd gotten, or if she'd gotten far enough to reach the main part of the story yet.

Then again, she had said she liked the books, and due to how many she read it was likely she'd like this one... then again, he always worried that with the sheer number people would get bored, or feel like the story was getting repetitive. Kyle decided to try and get his mind off that topic, and simply wait for Helena's answer. Maybe that would spark some conversation. He'd always hated small talk, so he preferred to avoid it, but that he was good at. Kyle could small talk for hours if needed. Actual conversation? That was a bit harder. Now, he could talk about things sure, but this type of conversation wasn't really his thing. He generally ended up rambling about something or another and didn't really get anywhere. Plus, his ability to come up with conversation topics was quite limited as well. Maybe he should look that up, it wasn't like there weren't books on the subject. Though, he'd feel awkward getting caught reading one. Being over 2000 years old you think he would have figured it out by now.

Helena looked up as Kyle asked her about the book and smiled. "It's good." She said and took another mouth full, as she thought about what else to say about the book so far. "I mean, it is a little slower in the start than the other books, but I still like the characters a lot." She said and hummed.

"I have only read about four chapters, so I'm still a long way from finished, but it's nice to have something I can do when I'm out of ideas." She usually read when there was nothing better to do. Not that she didn't like reading, but she preferred being outside any day.

Kyle nodded, that book had needed a bit more exposition to explain some of what was going to occur, and he'd been worried about that when he'd written it. He'd been trying to avoid that since then, as he'd heard several people make similar comments. Seemed that even this long after it had been written it still gave the same impressions. Though he was always glad when people said they enjoyed his characters, that was always what he focused on most. "I usually spend most of my time reading, or writing." He said, "I don't tend to do much else other then work or... well, family matters." Kyle never minded helping with things related to the town, or his home, but family matters were something he would have preferred to never have to do. Especially the negotiations.

After a moment Kyle looked over at Helena. "What else do you like to do? I just realized we've never talked about it much." He smiled. "I'll start, since I asked. I like studying plants. That's why there are so many species in the garden, I planted most of them myself, though I had help from the gardener. Sadly my research and other work, especially things relating to the town and my station get in the way of me tending the garden myself." Kyle realized he was rambling again and cut himself off. "I know you like music and reading, anything else you enjoy?" He was quite curious, as he himself had been told he lacked hobbies (at least appropriate ones) by more then just his family. Ironically, his colleagues and family said opposite things. His family disliked his work, and his colleagues often laughed at him for putting so much time into the matters related to his station. The only thing both parties agreed on was his bad taste in books, though most of the ones they complained about were the ones he used as references for his own series. Seeing what other people had written was always something he'd found helpful.
