Because.
There once was a Wuffel named Grog
Who declared that "Cooking's a slog!"
For his habit of eating
He's solved it by cheating
And used trading to feast like a hog.
(Sorry, Grog, I tried my best)

That's harder, to my mind. That's an ongoing, you have to live with it forever thing, instead of one single moment that's the exception instead of the rule.

Thank you, chuunibyou!
Also I just realized you have a quote from me in your signature and I find it incredibly touching that someone was actually paying attention when I said that, and agreed, so thank you a lot for that too. So often when the depression hits it's hard to understand why it might be worth the trouble of even saying anything, and then someone like you comes along and reminds me that, sometimes, people are listening. And that's amazing.

It is I who should thank you! I kept what you said in my signature because I frequently return to it and draw strength from it. You first said it while I was in high school, and I needed it in order to be myself despite what my family wanted me to be. And I continue to need it whenever being authentic ends up being isolating, and whenever speaking up hurts me but staying silent hurts more.
As someone who is also struggling with depression, I understand how futile everything can feel. But your words have helped me, again and again, over the years. Whenever IRL is going badly, it's internet friends like you, and the things you say, that help get me through.
