What're weird things you do food wise?
Whether it be food combinations.
or how you eat a specific thing.
Example: I suck on my cheeto puffs until the like dissolve in my mouth lol

Well back when I was college I would eat ketchup and rice. It reminded me of meatless porcupine meatballs. I could have JUST made those, but that requires work when I could stick minute rice in the microwave and mix it with. Ketchup.

I like to spread sour cream on my bagels instead of cream cheese.
Spreads easier, nice tangy taste, otherwise similar in terms of flavor combos.
But often considered weird.

Sometimes I put fish balls (they're like rounded meat balls made from fish paste for those who aren't familiar with it) in my noodles or rice and with curry soup lmao

For some reason, I like to eat the hotdog and then the bun. I've been working on that, as a lot of people think it is weird at work, but I also do it with meatball subs and I refuse to change that habit. Eat the meatballs then the bread. My SO, when we first started dating offered to buy me the meatballs without bread until they realized I eat the bread afterwards.

Okay so this isn't so much a weird food thing I do, as a food-related question to people....
If you're told to bring a "vegetable side dish" to a potlatch style get together, does a mushroom dish count?
I mean, are mushrooms even vegetables? Where do they.... they definitely aren't green, I don't think they give you the same stuff as vegetables do, but they give you other stuff and they're healthy if you don't look too hard at all the butter I cook them with, so... it counts, right?
Right?

You will make half the people unhappy with your choice and the other half extremely excited.
I wouldn't count Mushrooms as a veggie, as they are a third category- fungi. I myself am not a fan of mushrooms but SO would KILL for a dish and probably eat your whole dish if no one else would be interested.
I would double check with the host to make sure you weren't the only one who was supposed to bring veggies- if you have like one Vegan or Vegetarian that hate mushrooms, and were looking forward to your Veggie dish, being the sole veggie person, could accidentally create waves.
Normally we do those style dinners at work and we have 100+ staff members, so there is an abundance. I make a Porto Chicken gravy/stew that is usually paired with someone who brings rice or noodles.

Despite mushrooms not being technically vegetables, I would count them as veggies when it comes to cooking.
For me it would be a perfectly aceptable veggie side dish.

I think I would count mushrooms as a good vegetable side dish, especially for a potluck.
For personal meal balancing though I don't think I would place it in the same category as the leafy greens and whatnot though...
