I need to update this post someday soon. so much as changed. Shoto, Sapphire and Daisy are no longer with us. And we have a ton of boys now with a few new little girls.

Such sweet feather babies! I owned bantam chickens as a young teen, and they were such a delight. I loved the feeling of the little birdie feet. They were yard birds though, and if yours were as well, I can only imagine what happened to three of them.

Yeah we have a big yard so they free roam. Daisy though, Daisy refused to go in the coop one night, decided to fly into a tree and as we were trying to climb up to get her down, an owl grabbed her. Owl didn't care there were 3 humans in the tree XD it was some crazy lol well you know xD

Oh yeah. Lost LOTS of babies over the years to owls, hawks, raccoons, and snakes. Possibly a few coyotes, foxes, or bobcats, but not sure. To a certain degree, I was relieved when it was a snake or bird who took them, because then I didn't have to bury whatever pieces were left behind.

But for fond memories, my lazy little bantams would use me as a stepladder to fly up in a tree. No warning either. I'd be standing there, minding my own business, and all of a sudden there would be a lot of beating noises and clawing on the back of my head, a rooster would stand on my head and crow, then fly up to whatever limb he wanted to sleep on that night. XD

That's so adorable!! One of my roosters got into a fight with a younger rooster (younger one kicked his butt) and he got an injured eye. I brought him inside and healed it. Eye is all better and now he is attached to me XD he wants to spend all day with me and makes me feel bad for leaving him outside with the others. He still fights so currently I have been keeping him in a tent for saftly. It was meant to be a breeding tent lol but I need to get a new tent for that now XD (want to pick the roosters and hens to make new color babies with and get even more chickens this year) lol

Poor baby! I'm glad his eye healed up.

My babies squabbled a lot too. My closest pet often got picked on. He got to where he was my little buddy because I'd go pick him up when he was getting chased by the other roosters. However, he was still a VERY proud little thing, so when he would seek me out and insist on me carrying him around the yard, I had to hold out my arm for him to fly up and land on me, because it was just too insulting to be picked up like a common unwinged thing. XD

I'm sure roosters look intimidating to each other with their hackles up, but I can't help but think they look like umbrellas.

XD I will now see them as umbrellas XD I always saw them as lion manes x3

my little guy hates to be picked up too XD he is a big grown man and will fly on top of me thank you XD I ended up taking him to the Minecraft movie this weekend, cuz he ended up being hurt again and I normally close him up in the coop when all the others are asleep, but that wasn't going to work for my movie XD so we took him with us. it was a drive in so he slept on my lap for the whole thing lol
