what characters in media do you relate to?

i feel like finding yourself in media is a really powerful thing. it's sort of like looking into a mirror, finally seeing something about yourself represented on a page or on the screen. it lets you know that someone out there understands what you experience or what you're like, and that's very powerful and validating.

so what kinds of characters do you relate to? feel free to go in depth / add specific characters if you'd like.

i'll expand on my side a little later, but for me personally, i tend to identify with villains with tragic backstories that see themselves as monsters or "bad" and therefore continue being bad because of some kind of belief or necessity. even moreso when they deeply regret it. i guess in some way i love vicariously experiencing their redemption arcs (if they get one, that is.)

I tend to relate to characters that are introverted like me or aren't good with dealing with people and situations "normally".

However, I've had loved ones compare me to characters that seem to be mean and or brooding xD

Hibari from "Reborn!"
Buttercup from "Powerpuff Girls"
Raven from "Teen Titans"
Sucy from "Little Witch Academia"
Lego Batman from "The Lego Movie"

I asked my little sister who she thought was my favorite Powerpuff Girl and she said "Buttercup - because she's mean like you 8u"

haha, i love buttercup! i think that says a lot about how we perceive ourselves vs. how other people perceive us... introverted doesn't necessarily mean brooding but i can see how that can be interpreted from someone introverted. raven is great too, she's definitely one of my favorites from teen titans.

Exactly xD
I didn't notice that until I read your thread.

I am extremely introverted and I don't make facial expressions and my voice is usually monotone, so I can see why they'd associate me with those characters.
But I'm not mean >8u
