From The Book of Questions by Gregory Stock.
Question #42: Someone very close to you is in pain, paralyzed, and will die within a month. He begs you to give him poison so that he can die. Would you? What if it were your father?

Well, my dad always told me when it's his time, just let him go.
My mom also told me she wouldn't want treatments if she ever gets cancer and to just let her go.
If it was all right with them, I'd do it.
It's hard because you don't want them to die, but you don't want them in pain and then also die.

I would be too afraid of getting caught and going to prison for it, so I'd say no. But if I was sure I wouldn't get in any trouble, and if they were definitely going to die in a month and be in pain the whole time, then I think I probably would, especially if the poison would be quick and painless.

I really don't think it's something anyone should go to prison over.
I know people argue over whether or not it's morally right and stuff, but it's not that hard for me to grasp.
No one wants to suffer and die, so everyone should have the right to choose to go peacefully.
I had someone more or less say that it's quitting and their relative chose to live in agony until they died, so everyone should do that. Which was stupid to me.
I know I had a friend killed by a drunk driver last year and it stated in the news article she had been pinned against the wheel for who knows how long before she died.
Just thinking of her being pinned against the wheel and being in pain and terrified and dying is horrible.
I can never get rid of that thought in my head and if I had a chance to keep someone from dying that way, I'd like to help them.
Sorry to make this thread go down a horrible drain of despair 8D;

Yes, but I'm fortunate in that I live in one of the "right to die" states, so I would do it by helping my loved one fill out the paperwork and get the "poison" from a doctor's prescription so that there'd be no legal repercussions.

Giving someone poison to assist them in ending their life isn't saving them from suffering. Most poisons are very painful ways to die in and of themselves. I might condone a medically induced coma so that perhaps the patient could have a pain free dream life. Poison is out of the question.

A lot of the prescription ones are multi-level; the first acting thing puts someone to sleep, like some of the aneasthetics, and then there's a second layer that pushes the unconsciousness further, and then the last layer stops the heart. The whole cocktail is still considered a poison, though, since poison is a part of it.
So I guess it depends on how you define things!

I don't know if my state is like that. I should look it up.
By "poison" I assumed it was like giving them an overdose of medication xD
There was a game I played where you were given the option to overdose someone with morphine.
