Question #30: Would you rather be given $10,000 for your own use or $100,000 to give anonymously to strangers? What if you could keep $1,000,000 or give away $20,000,000?

Um. Strangers as in, I'm given some names of people strange to me that I can then research and learn about and choose from? Or strangers as in, it will be completely random?

Because I know some people who should NOT be trusted with any position of power or large amount of money, and so if I don't have some assurance that funds won't be going to one of those people? Well, obviously I'd choose whatever choice keeps it from them.
If, on the other hand, it's more a matter of, "$10,000 for you or $100,000 going to a charity that will benefit strangers", then the answer changes.

It's a contextual question, but isn't giving me the actual context I need to answer it.

That's exactly what I was thinking. If it has to be literally completely random strangers, then I think I would rather keep the money. But if it can be charities, or if I can give it to people that aren't complete strangers but that I don't really know either (like some neighbors or people online), or if I can choose what strangers it goes to (I wouldn't mind hanging out at the vet and giving money to people who come in with an emergency or something for example), then giving the money away becomes a lot more appealing.

Ha ha, sounds like you're on the same page then. "What would do the most good/least harm" is hard to tell without more information on that one.

Personally I would keep the money. I could use it to get my life straightened out.

I would keep the money. If I could choose people I know to give money to then I would choose that. That way I could give it to my husband and then I would get half. Mwahahaha!

keep. the idea of a random act of goodwill is nice and all, but i think 10k worth of cash is better used in a way i know it'll be utilized well. plus i could really use the cash LOL

I would keep the money to take some debt off me and to just save some and then spend some on things I need like clothing and computer bits. I would give some to charity probably an animal one cause I love animals enough. so yeah would be better if I kept it.
