Extra Step

I like when people take the extra step in their job to make customers happy.

Like when I was trying to find a certain manga, but I couldn't get a worker to find it in their computer system. I got this one lady on the phone and she spent a literal hour on the phone with me, trying to find what I wanted. We eventually found it and she ordered it for me and I still have the manga. She didn't HAVE to stay on the phone that long with me. Other workers just said they couldn't find it and hung up. But she actually wanted to help me. And I will never forget her for that.

Like when we got a gift for my sister from eBay. It was a Lego set and some parts were missing. We were like "Well, that sucks..." and didn't give it another thought.
But then we got another package in the mail from the seller, apologizing for missing Legos and they sent them to us.
They didn't HAVE to do that. We already got over it. But they actually gave a damn and wanted my sister to fully enjoy the Lego set. And I will never forget them for that.

I went to this local place down the street and ordered a lot of food and we were walking home when this worker came running after me (I was out of the parking lot already) and handed me part of our order they forgot to put in the bag.
It wasn't that big of a deal. I'd have been mildly annoyed, but I'd get over it. But this woman came RUNNING after me to give me the food. Again, she didn't HAVE to do that. And I will never forget her for that.

I went to get my eyes examined and the assistant saw my SHINee bracelet and asked what the characters were. I told him it was a K-pop band member that I liked and we talked about Korea and Japan and had a nice chat. When he turned to leave, I told him "It was nice meeting you!" and he looked so surprised and told me the same. He could have just been normal nice, but he actually gave a damn about talking to me about our common interests. And I will never forget him for that.

I went to a sleep clinic to see if I had Sleep Apnea and I was extremely anxious. I didn't talk much to my technician, but I eventually started talking to him about horror movies and dogs and we talked a lot and it really helped relax me. We both love rottweilers and we talked about a specific horror movie that had a scary part in it and it was fun. He didn't have to talk to me a lot like that. And he seemed genuinely interested in talking. And I will never forget him for that.

I had a doctor that always seemed like he actually cared about me. He was a pain in the ass sometimes, but it was because he cared. I remember going without my medication for about two weeks because he needed to sign off on new refills. I went to see him and I told him about me being without my meds and he said they never told him I needed refills. So he finished with me and told me "I'm going to go to the pharmacy myself and see what the problem is." and since he did that, I haven't had any issues getting refills. And I will never forget him for that.

Have you had any similar experiences with this?

I really appreciate when these kinds of things happen to me. But as someone who has worked in customer service I can understand why lots of people won't do it. I would work really hard to help people who were nice to me and then the ones that were rude I would just be like fuck that.
