Give It Back

We decided to order out last night, so my mom and I went to pick up the food.
While we were waiting, these two bees flew into our car, so we shooed them away and then they went into the restaurant through the cashier window.
All the workers started freaking out and threatening the bees and we ended up having our food brought to us out the back door instead of the cashier window.
In the freakout, they lost our receipt and were trying to bring it back up, but when they did - they gave us our receipt and the money back.
We started to leave and Mom said "....They gave me my money back..."
So she parked and took the money back inside because we felt wrong not paying for all the food we got.
We've been going to that place for over 10 years and have nothing but good experiences and the workers were working hard so it was just wrong to not pay for the food, you know?
Apparently not everyone thinks that way.
"Why did you give the money back!? You could have had a free meal!"
Because it doesn't feel right. Sure, I'd have food and money, but someone else would pay for it and I don't want others to get in trouble when I could have done something about it.
So I guess some would call me honest and some would call me an idiot 8D
Have you experienced anything similar?

I think it was really nice to give the money back. In similar situations I usually give it back if it's a smaller mom and pop type of place. But I'm really strapped right now, so if it's a big chain store, then I admit that I usually don't give it back. Especially since usually when they make a mistake it ends up costing me more rather than benefitting me, but I often don't realize it until after I've left.

I can understand small amounts of change and not wanting to go back.
We got food downtown and drove like an hour away and noticed our order was wrong.
Sure as hell weren't going to drive back xD

Once I shopped at a store that sold a lot of plants and all. To save space in my cart, I put my flowers in the pot I was also buying. The cachier didn't notice so I told her it was 2 different things.
I like to be honest, but I'm also afraid that if I don't, the alarm will go off at the entrance of the store and they'll see that I didn't buy all my stuff, and that would be the end of the world x)

I recently had the opportunity to steal warm soup from my local safeway. I'd already bought my other groceries but had forgotten to get it because it's at the entrance I park by and I wanted to get it near the end of my trip so it would stay hot.
Instead of taking it, there's no way I would have been caught especially with all of the bags of already paid for groceries I had in my cart, I filled up my cup and went to self check-out. Something about just taking it wouldn't have sat right with me personally and it was kicking my anxiety into overdrive at just the thought of it haha.

Zupprika: Oi, they go off sometimes even if you did pay and it's scary o_O
TrickyLA: It sends my anxiety into overdrive too xD

I've had times where someone forgets to ring up something that I was purchasing. I like to let them know if that does happen. I feel like most often they just don't add the actual price. But sometimes they do.
