Question #16: If at birth you could select the profession your child would eventually pursue, would you do so?

Depends on how specific you have to be.

If I can say something like, "I choose the profession that will fulfill them, give them happiness and purpose, and will make the world a better place"

Well, then of course.

If I have to say some specific category named by a census-bureau or something?
Nah.

If I could pick, than I want my kid to be an ambasador în a very wealthy country. But my kid has to be up to it and if he'll be anything like me I don't see that happening . But it's really up to him/her. I rather my kid dose something he loves and earn a decent wage than earn a lot of money and think of everyday as a burden

I have too many unanswered questions with this one. I mean, does picking the profession also mean that they would like it? Or be good at it? Or even be physically able to do it at all? So, without that info, I would say no.

ooooh, or if by picking it you could create the reality that it would be a viable option in.

Like, if you chose something like "interstellar travel agent", would we then magically be granted the ability to have interstellar travel?

Because I admit I might sacrifice one of my children's future choice on something like that. Possibly.

Interesting point! Hmm. If you could get kind of specific, maybe I'd pick "the doctor/researcher who cures cancer," or something like that!

oh no, i would never. i'd want my kid to do whatever they found fulfilling as long as it doesn't hurt other people or themselves.

I don't think I'd want to do that to my child. I've been in the position where my future profession was picked out for me before I'd voiced a different opinion, and I wouldn't want to put my child through that kind of confusion.

The question sounds not like you're forcing your child to have a job whether they want it or not, but more like some magical force guides them towards the career you secretly chose? At least, that's how I'm reading it.

I'd go with Travel Writer, because traveling and having someone else pay for it is great. Also my family for generations has enjoyed traveling and writing, so the kid'd probably like it too... hopefully...
