He Got Bit

My dad called earlier to talk to us about how he got bitten by a bat.
He said that people were chasing it and trying to catch it.
He said he just reached out and grabbed it when it flew towards him.
He then said it bit him, but it didn't break the skin.
He said everyone else was dumbfounded because he just reached out and grabbed it.
He said where he is apparently doesn't care and he told us if he dies from rabies, we know why.
I'm sad he got bit and I hope he'll be okay but that is badass >8u
He just grabbed a frenzied animal right out of the air with his bare hand \u8</
I've only been bitten a few times by animals.
Mostly cats and my dog and once by a friend's hamster.
My cat bites me if I annoy her, but her bites don't hurt.
She never bites me too hard because she doesn't want to hurt me, but she wants me to back off.
My dog bit me because I got between him and my cat.
He was biting at her and I put my hand out and he bit me.
It was the first and really only dog bite I've ever gotten that did actual damage.
I was bleeding a lot and my fingers hurt.
It took a good while for it to heal and people kept saying my hand looked infected and I needed to see a doctor.
But I was okay. And got some new scars.
My friend's hamster bit me because I picked it up, I guess.
I'd never been around hamsters and I was little so I probably scared it.
I know animals like bats, raccoons and rats can carry rabies, but it's hard for me to be scared of things I find cute? I'm also not scared of snakes or lizards, but I won't go near dangerous ones.
I'm also not an animal expert, but I spend most of my time watching people and animals act.
If I were to see an animal acting out of the norm, I'd avoid it.
I once caught a rat that got into my aunt's house.
It was in the bathroom when my sister went in there.
I grabbed a towel and caught it and threw it outside.
I was afraid my aunt would be pissed at me because she wanted to kill it, but she was flabbergasted.
She was like "You CAUGHT it!? A RAT!? You're not scared of RATS!?" and I was like "Nope ._."
Then she had a raccoon outside of her house when she went to throw trash out.
She called me over and she asked if I was scared of raccoons. I said "Nope ._." and she asked me to take her trash out for her.
Have you ever been bitten by an animal?

I remember being bitten pretty hard by one of my very first pet mice over 10 years ago. It was my own fault because I tried to pick her up right away and hadn't given her enough time to get to know me. Other than that I can't really think of any time I have been bitten... tiny cat nibbles here and there but nothing harsh. Had tons of cat scratches though. LoL.
I would be like your sister... "Is the bat okay!?" LoL

That's crazy! I think bats are so cute, but I would be really scared. I'm terrified of getting bit by anything, even without the risk of rabies. I babysat my mother's rabbit years ago, and he bit. And my tortoise bit me on accident once.

People had me paranoid as hell that my hand was infected.
I was so scared of losing my dog, though.
I thought they'd take him away because he was "dangerous".
I've been nipped a lot by dogs and cats, so it doesn't bother me much.
My dog had a litter of puppies that just constantly attacked my ankles when I'd walk.
Like a pack of piranhas >>
I also feed my dogs by hand, so sometimes they nip me.
I usually say "Most of that was my hand >Bu"
And to Saya I'd say "That was my finger, dear >Bu"

Hey, I actually got bit by a bat before too! It was the second time the same night my cat caught a bat and brought it in that it actually bit me. I was going to the doctor the next day for something unrelated, and when I was in I was like "Oh yeah I got bit by a bat yesterday lol" and, uh, turns out that really freaks a doctor out and they want to give you tetanus and rabies shots... I really stressed that the bite didn't break the skin at all and avoided the many shots.
But omg bats are seriously the softest animal in the world. But idk if I should encourage anyone to pet one, because if they have rabies, their rabies-spit is all over their fur too.
I've also had alligator lizards bite down on my fingers and just stay on... they don't have teeth, so it doesn't really hurt, but it is hard to pull them off haha.

Your poor doctor, lol, I can see how that would cause a flurry!

Bats aren't a common carrier of rabies so that shouldn't' be much of a worry. Any mammal can get it of course, but it's pretty unlikely.
I've never been bitten by a wild animal. My cat only gives warning bites so even if I step on him, he doesn't bite me either. I have however been stung by wasps a few times and that's no bueno.

Actually, bats have a high probability of carrying the rabies virus. The primary carriers in North America are raccoons, skunks, bats, foxes and coyotes.

Isn't that just stigma though? I've done a lot of research on bats as they're one of my favorite animals. Only about 1% of the entire population is a rabies carrier. Just like the idea that bats are blind, it's not true.
