I have not posted here in almost a year, and during that time (as in, two weeks ago), I had acquired a penpal. We agreed we would both send a letter, and then reply to the letters we received and send them at the same time to receive the letters at the same time. It worked, but... he did not receive the second letter from me while I received his. I went to the USPS site to find out what to do if a letter or package is lost, so tomorrow, if he does not get my letter, I will use the form at the site and file a lost letter ticket.

I did some thinking and began to wonder if it was the ink I used. What if the ink (I used a fountain pen to write the letter, and the ink I used was Monteverde Confidence Blue) contained something that was used in something dangerous? I would write letter inquiring about inks setting off alarms and raising red flags, but then I think if I did, I would have to use another kind of ink. It could work, but I forsee nothing being answered. Postmasters must be busy, after all, and I do not think I should be wasting their time with a small matter such as ink.

The first letter I sent, I used Diamine Onyx Black, and we received each other's letters at the same time, and that helps the thought that certain inks contain certain ingredients that are used in other, not so friendly things... but it is only ink... still, I do not have the answers, and I look forward to writing to someone.

It's most likely just the postal system failing - we get letters go missing all the time.

I'd love to find a penpal, how did you start writing to yours?

Yeah, it was just the post office. I was going to experiment and send my pen pal two letters, but he received the letter with the ink I suspected having caused issues, and he received it Thursday.

I met my penpal on twitter, and I found it interesting that he and I continue to talk to each other after all these months. He and I agreed to be pen pals after I felt the urge to write letters. Of course, it increased my desire to write more letters; however, there is not a lot of people I trust to give my address to.
