Gifts Received

I just came back from a Christmas party last night. I gave out a bunch of gifts, and got a couple back in return. I know some people wait until Christmas to start opening their gifts, but I like opening my gifts right away. XD Let's talk about gifts received this time!

Have you received a holiday/Christmas gift yet?

Have you opened your gift yet?

What have you gotten so far?

Are there any that you particularly like among them?

For myself, I've gotten a woven bracelet, socks, stickers, Sherlock season 3 on DVD, a scarf, a Target gift card, a bedding set, a coin purse, and a Starbucks mug.

I especially like the DVD set (my friend asked me candidly what I wanted) and the scarf.

Nothing will ever be early
We don't open until the day we celebrate
This year, treemas eve
Some years, it's the day of, and others, a day or two later
But the eve of is the earliest we go

I know I'm getting unicorn stuff (a small statuette that I saw a few months ago in dad's room that he doesn't have hidden, as well as from a relative or other who used to have a store and she sent unicorns on occasion), stuff for Catzilla Town (a given), a hot glue gun (I asked for one, seeing as mom's likes to go awol), and a pair of socks (cuz apparently not getting socks is a disappointment to my sister LOL)
I think there'll be scratch off tickets, but idk for sure

I have no idea what I'm getting!
Due to a change in career around this time, I've had to tone it down on presents and thus have asked people not to go crazy for me either >.< So really just little bits and pieces for immediate family - my parents, sister, and brother.
I think brother might bring a gift card, sister might just go with my favourite hot sauce, and parents will probably panic on the 23rd and ask if us kids are fine with a cash gift. :mcheh: They do it most years, haha.

My boyfriend and I also have a 'no gifts' policy, so naturally I got him something. Not sure it will arrive in time for christmas though, it's international. But he got me a damn ring last year, so I'm not the only one breaking the rules!

The hardest thing about gifts is accidentally getting too much for one sibling, which will be opened in front of the other sibling. It's hard to even it out and not look like a total tool. >___>

@Kit:

I'm sure the gifts must all look nice, collecting together. I just don't want to wait for mine. XD

Aha, that sounds nice!

Yesterday I got santa socks, a knitted hat, a lottery ticket, a gift card, and a candy cane.

@Februarybabe

That sounds pretty fair! (Being straight up about gifting.)

I'm usually unprepared at Christmas, but for some reason, I managed to pull it off and get all my gifts ready early this year. I'm hoping that I'll do even better and be a better listener so I have better cues next year.

I don't fully expect gifts (maybe four gifts from family/close friends who always give me something), and certainly nothing personal, but it's always nice to get things, especially things I like. I'm very happy with all my gift cards (stuff I can use), and socks (stuff I can use), and personal gifts (a DVD of a show I like, stickers because a friend noticed me browsing through a store [I'd actually wanted to buy some for some kids, LOL]), and gifts in general are a nice gesture, not matter what it is. My favorite surprise gift so far was a lovely blue infinity scarf; I don't even wear scarves, but it was so pretty it snagged my interest, aha.

Oh, a ring sounds pretty awesome! My friend and her boyfriend are doing a "twelve days of Christmas" thing this year. I'm not sure if it's a tradition or not, but they're getting each other 12 relatively small gifts. They might even go on a snowboarding trip together next week.

My siblings don't live together, so it's easy for me to give their gifts separately, aha. I like my youngest brother the most (ngl), but I have the most concern over my middle bro. But I have no problems treating them or helping them out, and vice versa, though. My middle bro might feel a little jealous now and then (because he's always compared to me, and because he can't hang out due to his schedule), but my youngest bro is the best of the three of us on things like this.

As a kid, my middle bro, the most sensitive, would always get three toys/snacks so he could share with us. My youngest bro was the same. I also did the same, but my intention was mostly so that they wouldn't touch what's mine. *facehands*

We did stealing santa and I got a poop shaped portable charger and it's bright pink. My friend came back from Japan and gave me some nice matcha and tea sweets (but it was for my birthday in September given to me right before xmas so iunno). I bought myself a coach handbag for work. The Australian price tag does hurt me a bit seeing as I hear it's cheaper at the outlet in Hawaii but I am not going to Hawaii for a cheap luxury handbag.

Goose and I have no gifts on xmas policy too because both of our birthdays are towards the end of the year. The stress of presents is way too much ;-;

PJs are a great gift, aha!

@Poshi

Aha, yay for poop gifts.

I gave my friend a poop candy dispenser.

I opened the last of the gifts I've received this year. I got two Zelda amiibos from my brother, and one more from White Elephant. There were also candies, and lotion & face masks from Nature Republic (my cousin works there and that was her gift). And sleeping shorts and underwear (from one friend who always buys everyone underwear for Christmas).

I am happy with my Christmas haul.
