Summer Necessities

I recently saw a video about a daycare worker taking the kids to a waterpark.
That's really awesome, but she didn't bring sunscreen.
It was in Texas and the heat index was 110°F (43°C ?).
Some kids got sunburns and horrific blisters.
I fail to see how they thought it was okay to skip sunscreen xD
The heat isn't a joke - it's dangerous. Especially to kids.
I used to love the summer when I was a kid.
Now I just hate everything about it.
Well, I enjoy the nighttime when it's cooler and there's a billion fireflies.
But I sleep at night >___>
So when people plan to be out, they need some things to stay safe.
I'd say the most important ones would be water, sunscreen, bug spray and cool clothing.
What do you bring with you when you're out in the heat?

My absolute summer essentials are a good book (if the situation allows it), my beach towel, a swimsuit because you never know when you will need one, sunscreen and a pair of glasses. I can manage without the rest but a cool, refreshing drink is also high on the list.

No additional items are necessary in summer as it is the better weather of the year and the life is easier than in other seasons.

I try to venture out only at night during summer to avoid need of sunscreen. It's nasty stuff and even with it I burn anyway. It just takes five minutes longer
So yes, winter>summer for me

I hate being out in the heat and I also hate sunscreen. It's something about the texture that I don't like. However, I really do enjoy being in the water! :') I always bring sunglasses and only wear tanks and shorts because Texas weather is unbearable.

when i saw the title of the thread i began singing 'summer necessities' to the tune of 'bare necessities' lol
i bring lots of a cool drink, maybe lemonade or something with glucose, in a flask that'll keep it cool. and i wear ONLY COTTON. and no pants. skirts so that my legs can breathe xD
i don't need much else, but then i've always lived and grown up in a tropical country so i'm a lot more accustomed to heat and sun. i might need a sunhat once in a while though.
if i'm in the house i need circulation, so i'll sit directly under the fan, and i'm good.
i've never worn sunscreen

Well, if there is really hot and sunny outside, something to drink is a must-have. Dehydration is dangerous, after all. The rest depends on how you cope with such a weather. If you're going outside, you should use a proper sunscreen. Especially if you're around water - otherwise you may get a really awful sunburn. Also, if your skin is pale and burns easily, sunscreen may not be enough, not matter how strong you use. In such cases it's better to simply be more clothed.
As for me, my eyes are very sensitive to sunlight. They become red pretty quickly, if I don't have sunglasses. Not to mention it's hard for me to see anything without them...

I don't really like to be outside in the Summer but if I had to...
Sunscreen and water! Also my phone... and 3DS. Maybe a hat.

Sunscreen, a handkerchief (to wipe up the sweat) and a lot more motivation than usual because walking to school in the summer isn't fun.
I'm prone to heatstrokes too but since it happened to me once in winter as well, I don't know how to fight against this anymore.
