Driving

I just recently finished my driving lessons and it was driving me crazy how difficult it was (pun totally intended). My instructor absolutely hated me, I couldn't drive straight, couldn't handle the clutch properly, kept stalling in the middle of the road, the list goes on.
How did people finally learn to drive? Did you take classes? Did your parents try teaching you on their own car?

Ι was driving a scooter since 15 so the transition to the car wasn't as difficult since I had some on road experience before. I took my car lessons at 18 and my biggest concern was the clutch too. At the beginning I would just randomly stomp on it though I learned to be more gentle with it. Parking was tad of annoying, since the streets here are narrow so when I wanted to park I had to block the road for a while and it kind of stressed me that I wouldn't get from the first time and get to block the road again for a second time... No idea why my neighborhood is that busy but it was rather stressful.

my mom taught me how to drive in her jeep. the only thing i ever studied was the driver permit packet the dmv gave me. i failed on my first try because i was nervous and forgot a bunch of stuff, but i passed the second time i took the test. i have pretty bad driving anxiety though so i haven't actually driven a car in about a year and a half.

Parent taught me
I didn't go above 30 for a long time
Fortunately during then i only drove on back roads, so i wasn't bothering anyone by being slow

I don't have a license, so I don't drive.

Finished up learning when I was 17. I mostly taught myself? I had on-road lessons, but that consisted of me driving this shady dude to random gas stations so he could by sodas and cigarettes. (I mean, legit organization, but the dude was so shady.)
Other than that, my grandfather would let me drive him around, which was awesome because he was super chill and never really cared if I was sort of bad at driving. When practicing parallel parking, I accidentally tapped this crappy car I was parking behind. Papa got out the car, looked at the other car, shrugged, got back in, and told me I should just practice on the other side of town for a couple of days. XD
I failed the road test the first time I took it because it was pouring and in a town I didn't know the streets of well. Passed second time. Been driving ever since! I commute 40 or so miles to school, so it's kinda a mandatory skill for me.

I took my driving lessons late, at 17, 'cause I hated the thought of driving. I needed to be able to drive to uni, so I was on a time crunch. My first time driving alone was my first day of uni. X'D
I still hate driving, but I am good at it now. It just takes practice. Sometimes it can even be fun, if the sun is shinning, the radio is turned up loud, the windows are open, and the roads are empty.
It feels like freedom. Though, I live in a very busy place, so those days are rare.
I live on a highway, and have to back out of my driveway to get out of it, so my first driving lesson was stressful. "Never been behind a wheel before? No idea how hard to press the gas? Okay, back up into a highway, while avoiding the electricity pole in the middle of your back bumper."
It was no fun.
I still don't know how to drive stick, though. I come from a place where automatic is the norm. I'll need to re-learn for stick. = .= I do not look forward to that...

OMG the trick and clutch are the worst part of driving for me. I can't seem to get the hang of it at all. And I have a driving test coming up sometime and I think it's going to be a blast T_T

I learnt with an instructor for 20 hours and now I learn through practice with Dad in the giant damn Aurion .A. I occupy 1/2 of the driver seat and the boot is so damn long. People in my area drive so aggressively, they don't give way when you indicate to change lanes so you have to insist on changing lanes in case you miss your intersection and they speed like idiots to overtake you (I'm driving at the speed limit as well). I need practice parallel parking in the aurion. I can do it in my instructors vehicle, just not the aurion =_=;
Maybe try a different instructor? Get one you like.
